A QA tester is needed to join a rapidly growing technology service based in Edinburgh. This is a unique opportunity for a QA Test Engineer to join our expanding Agile software development team.

*This role will be classed as ‘Hybrid’ in Capita’s ‘New Way of Working’.

This means you will be working from home several days per week and joining your colleagues in the office several days per week. This will require some flexibility to ensure it is successful for you and your home situation, as well as meeting the needs of the rest of your team.*

Job Description:

What you’ll be doing:

Working in an Agile environment you will be part of a team responsible for defining and implementing the QA strategy that ensures the platforms features are developed to meet the specified functional, performance, security and reliability requirements. This pivotal role will see you writing test scripts, designing and implementing test processes, automating tests (where possible) and managing their continued improvement to deliver scalable, maintainable and defect free software features across our social media analytic platforms.

You must have:

  • Have flexibility to travel for work, when required
  • Have the right to work in the UK & have been a permanent UK resident for the last 3 years, ideally but minimum of 1 year, to meet security clearance/vetting requirements.

What we’re looking for:

Essential skills

  • Experience working in a similar QA Testing role in an agile environment;
  • Experience with the full end to end cycle of testing, writing test scripts, automating and executing tests, as well as control over environment management;
  • The ability to develop automated testing using tools i.e. Selenium, Cucumber or Protractor would be desirable
  • The ability to apply behaviour driven testing (BDD) or Test Driven Development (TDD) approaches;
  • Experience across testing layers – manual, UI, service, unit;
  • The ability to act as the point of contact for all QA aspects of a release;
  • The ability to multitask and problem solve;
  • Excellent attention to detail with excellent written / verbal communication skills;
  • Good communication and ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
