Job Summary:

Disney Vacation Club, a leader in vacation ownership, debuted in 1991 with a flexible, vacation points-based system rather than the traditional fixed-week timeshare model. Now, Disney Vacation Club has more than 250,000 Member families from all 50 states and approximately 100 countries who have discovered the joys of Membership. Disney’s Old Key West Resort (known simply as Disney Vacation Club Resort until 1996) opened at Walt Disney World Resort as the first Disney Vacation Club property in December 1971. Today, there are a total of 15 properties across four states, with the newest being Disney’s Riviera Resort.

We are looking for a first-class public relations manager with a deep understanding of strategic communications, editorial writing, project management, creative content development and media relations. The manager will focus on existing Disney Vacation Club Resorts including Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, member benefits and future projects and expansion. This position reports to the Public Relations Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing public relations strategy to increase awareness, generate buzz and drive commercial strategy
  • Executing programs of various scopes; including announcements, public relations stunts, media events and more
  • Ideating and writing various types of editorial content
  • Concepting and producing video and photo content, both editorial and creative
  • Maintaining relationships with key journalists, pitching and shaping stories that highlight key business priorities.
  • Disney Signature Experiences media measurement and analytics

Basic Qualifications:

The Basics

  • Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience in communications and public relations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the communications field, preferably public relations, publicity or media relations
  • Excellent knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines
  • Strong understanding and experience with media and social media measurement and analytics
  • Visual storyteller with an understanding of design aesthetics
  • Able to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, often after hours and on weekends
  • Available to travel (potentially up to 15%) for projects and work remotely at times
  • Ability to handle confidential information

Earned and Owned:

  • Deep knowledge of the earned media landscape
  • Experience working with media, including digital, broadcast and print
  • Demonstrated track record of placing and shaping stories
  • Understanding of social media platforms, concepts and strategy

Writing:

  • Extensive experience writing press releases, fact sheets, biographies, blog posts and more

Creative Content:

  • Experience concepting and producing editorial and creative photo/video content: b-roll, VNRs, SMTs, hyperlapses, explainer videos, serial content, etc.
  • Able to create visually compelling presentations in Keynote or similar app

Project Management:

  • Proven project management and reporting skills
  • Proven budget management skills

Business Acumen:

  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter
  • Proven experience in multi-tasking and working effectively under pressure
  • Able to develop and share creative, innovative ideas
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to work
  • Proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Must possess excellent networking, partnering and organizational skills
  • Able to work comfortably with Cast Members at all levels
  • Able to work in an environment that promotes and celebrates diversity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Disney Vacation Club, Aulani Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions.
  • Understanding of the Disney Vacation Club product, travel, real estate and/or vacation ownership industries
  • Command of Adobe Creative Suite or other design apps
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Required Education

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field, or relevant experience
