Work hard and make history with Amazon’s International Public Policy and Government Affairs Team. The Public Policy Manager, Customs & Trade, will join a growing and dynamic team, that works across Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and Asia Pacific, in support of Amazon’s global consumer retail business. Key job responsibilities

The Public Policy Manager, Customs & Trade, will be responsible for partnering with policymakers and non-governmental groups in Brussels and across EU. You will have a strong understanding of the public policy and regulatory environment at EU level, and key stakeholders within it. You will be able to coordinate efficiently, effectively, and cross-functionally, across Amazon’s business, locally and globally, to develop, align and implement appropriate positioning and engagement strategies. You will lead the development of policymaker outreach programmes and coordinate Amazon’s engagement with relevant industry associations and wider coalitions, and manage consultancy support where appropriate. You will be able to manage and drive complex projects, and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity. You will be a confident leader, but are also able to operate respectfully and collaboratively within wider regional and international structures. The Manager will work closely with Amazon’s public policy, public relations, global trade services, tax, legal, and business functions to establish the public policy and advocacy agenda at EU level and across Europe.A day in the life The candidate will be part of the EU Public Policy team based in Brussels, Belgium. The default location for the position would be Brussels, but would be flexible for the right candidate profile. The Manager will be willing to travel internationally, based on business needs.

About The Team

The International Public Policy team works with a wide range of national, local, and supranational policymakers, industry organizations, and non-governmental organizations across numerous policy issues spanning the consumer and commercial environment. We’re constantly creating the ideas, services, and products that make life easier for millions of customers.

Basic Qualifications

• BA/BSc or equivalent practical experience• 10+ years of relevant customs and trade regulatory and advocacy experience, e.g. within business, advisory firms, public administration, trade associations or non-governmental organisations.• Extensive understanding of policy-making processes and government relations, particularly as they relate to the EU political process and climate, with an informed global perspective.• Written en spoken fluency in English and working proficiency in French.Preferred Qualifications• A self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results. When the resources are not immediately at-hand, you enjoy reaching out to a wide array of internal and external resources to obtain, process, and operationalize information and strategy.• Strong judgment and decision-making skills. You can confidently use experience and data to assess and recommend a best course of action even in an ambiguous situation.• Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.• A strong network of political stakeholders in Brussels and at national level.• JD or advanced degree in area of study relevant to the role.• Experience working at high level and collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Legal, PR, and business teams.• Project Management experience• Some public speaking experience• Working proficiency in additional EU languages• Ability and desire to travel Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
