POSITION SUMMARY:
Risk is present in all our work activities. Among the most visible risks are personal injury to ourselves and other workers, injury to third parties, and damage to the owner's property and to the work. The Risk Manager is chartered to anticipate, recognize, assess, and mitigate projects exposure to these and other risks. The Risk Manager is responsible for assisting in the development of and then overseeing the implementation of the projects Risk Management Plan and ensuring active engagement and participation by the project team in the risk program. The Risk Manager works with the project functions, team members, and other stakeholders, including customer representatives, sub-contractors, and suppliers in a collaborative execution of the Risk Program.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· At the Project Manager’s direction, the Risk Manager is responsible for championing and leading project leadership via active participation in the process, generating a positive risk culture with proactive action. This includes identification, assessment and management of the risks (threats and opportunities).
· Manage project risk through the facilitation of risk workshops at all project levels and function/task level.
· Provides support to the customer’s risk management program by communicating project risk information and engaging them when necessary on the project processes.
· Support the Project Controls Manager in ensuring that all project team members comply with the risk management plans and procedures, and other risk specific requirements for their assigned scope of work.
· Administer project ARM risk database and ensure quality and accuracy of data therein; maintain, update records, and review risk team updates to ensure a high standard of risk management data.
· Produces detailed project risk reports as required within the program’s reporting cycle.
· Support continuous improvement of risk management activities within the project team through identifying and recommending improvements for implementation.
· Administrator the risk tools and systems that provide the interface between project functions, Customers, and other stakeholders.
· Facilitates the preparation of risk treatment, provides a platform to plan risk treatment.
· Evaluate cost and schedule uncertainty to determine risk; produce analysis and reports as necessary.
· Assist in the continuous improvement of procedures as necessary to ensure that risk management is embedded within the project going forwards.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or related field. In lieu of degree 21 years of directly related experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of project risk manager experience on medium to large scale projects required. Preferably in engineering and construction industry.
· Expert level experience in using ARM, @Risk, and Primavera Risk Analysis risk management tools.
· Sound knowledge of risk management processes and procedures (ISO 31000).
· Experience in producing detailed program and project level risk management reports to tight deadlines.
· Comfortable in producing high quality presentations and training sessions.
· Demonstrated experience of delivering high standard risk management function within construction or engineering industry.
· Experience in delivery and communication of risk management processes and procedures at all levels.
· Able to articulate schedule risk data to non-specialist audiences.
· Problem solving skills, able to demonstrate complex, quantitative research and analytical thinking.
· Able to build and manage working relationships at all stakeholder levels, including the customer.
· Able to model complex cost, schedule, and risk impacts commensurate to maturity of projects and programs.
