The National Trust has committed to do more for nature than ever before. We have an opportunity at Kingston Lacy in Dorset for a Project Manager to be at the centre of this ambition, and to help drive long-term change for the better.
You’re work base will be our regional office at Tisbury but working on site at Kingston Lacy as needed.
If you are a qualified, confident, and experienced Project Manager and the following describes you, then we would like to hear from you …

Passionate about supporting the National Trust to deliver its aims and objectives.
Someone who comes to work each day to be the best you can and to learn and develop.
We’re delighted to say the amount of conservation projects we’re working on at the National Trust is increasing rapidly. We are looking for someone to join our South West team to lead, develop and deliver our strategic ambition to restore a healthier, more beautiful natural environment at the Kingston Lacy Estate in Dorset.
This is an exciting opportunity, at an exciting time for the organization as we make significant steps together with our visitors, members, supporters, staff, tenants, and neighbouring landowners.
You will be joining a great team of people who not only have a wealth of expertise and experience in this area of work, but who are also highly motivated, and passionate about working at pace and scale – they see the bigger picture and easily work beyond our boundaries in partnership with others
As the Project Manager you will be joining the organisation’s Project and Programme Management community, led by our central team, with an ambition to establish a culture of excellence in delivery across the National Trust.
The project focuses on the ambitious opportunities for Land and Nature at Kingston Lacy Estate, one of the South West region’s most significant large lowland estates. You will be working closely with the Property and Consultancy teams to drive forward significant land-use change and delivering on areas of work covering adaptive re-use, outdoor hubs, and the visitor business. This role will also work closely alongside other transformational pieces of work such as the Stour Valley Regional Park project.
You will be responsible for identifying, leading, and delivering on innovative and inspiring opportunities to restore and reinvigorate nature across the whole estate, and beyond its borders.
You will be working closely with the property team on the ground as well as the National Trust’s regional Consultancy, which is a home to specialists of every area of our work. As an integral part of this diverse and expert team, you will bring creative and innovative thinking to your work, to deliver for nature and people. Identifying, building, and maintaining relationships with local, national, and international organizations which share a common vision with us will be critical. Understanding the local need and the people who live here is essential to the role as we build a future relevant to everyone. Communication and collaboration will be key to success.
This role requires someone with bold vision, who can challenge the status quo. You will possess the attitude and appetite to get things done in a way which includes everyone. Your work will set the standard for what can be achieved at landscape scale for nature, whilst also being relevant and accessible to the local communities as well as visitors from all walks of life.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following as we will shortlist for interview on the following minimum criteria for the role
We can be flexible about working patterns and are happy to explore and agree a working arrangement which strikes the right balance for both you and the Trust. We work within a hybrid working model which includes working at home if appropriate.
The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
Wherever you’re from, and whatever your background, we want to hear from you – and it doesn’t matter if you’re jam first, cream first, or even if you don’t like scones at all. Everyone is welcome.
