At Aviva the Project Manager is an agent of change with accountability for driving success over a full project or programme lifecycle. The project manager designs, plans, and implements projects and programmes, either standalone or as part of a larger programme, or programmes according to scope, targets and objectives set for time of delivery, budget, and quality.

We are ideally looking for someone that has a background in project management within Financial services, but are open to anyone that is technology aware with a knowledge of working with third parties.

Aviva introduced “smart-working” in 2020, and the person in this role can be based in any of our main offices, with flexible working options. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Successful project/programme delivery in line with the defined success criteria and set goals

• Effective and consistent communications and reporting to business and IT

• Smooth change deployment and handover to operations, driving quality and compliance

• Successful adoption of the solution, ensuring appropriate roll-out strategy and engagement

• Accountable for contribution and ongoing improvement of the project management tools and methodology (as part of the project management community)

Skills & Experience required

• Track record of successful IT and Business project delivery (Professional level of accreditation preferred (e.g. Prince 2)

• Strong leadership abilities with confidence in decision making and skilled in driving a team to finding solutions

• Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of Business/Customer needs and drivers for change

• Strong stakeholder engagement and management experience as well political awareness

• Strong and effective coaching and influencing skills to drive the necessary changes

• Ability to quickly gain an understanding of Aviva’s IT and Business strategy

• Willingness to try new ways of working and solutions

• Ability to set up and maintain a strong control and governance environment across the change delivery

• Experience of project delivery within an Agile environment would be an advantage

• Experience of both line and matrix leadership

• Salary of Circa £40,000 depending on skills, experience, and qualifications
