The proj​ect manager is accountable to the project board and ultimately the executive and has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis, within the constraints laid down by them.

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Project Managers and Senior Project Managers to join our Project and Programme Management Capability, within the Government Services Programme Delivery business unit in Capita, where you will have the opportunity to lead or work on a diverse range of projects.

As a Project Manager, you will be expected to run the project on a day-to-day basis on behalf of the Project Board within the constraints laid down by the board.  You may lead smaller projects or lead workstreams within large Transformation Programmes.

The Project Manager’s prime responsibility is to ensure successful delivery for the client within the specified constraints of time and cost. The Project Manager is also responsible for ensuring the project’s output is capable of achieving the benefits defined in the Business Case.

You may be leading teams, working closely with clients and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), taking accountability for the delivery of successful solutions and managing relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders.  You may also get involved in Business Case development, creating and managing Project Plans, managing Risks and Issues, or identifying Business Requirements, depending on the client’s needs.

The programmes and projects we support typically include both operational and technical transformation, so experience of working as part of a wider business transformation project will be required. We often work in complex, multi-agency environments, so experience of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver a project is highly desirable.

Please note this is a permanent position and requires regular business travel and working away from home on a weekly basis is expected - please confirm you would be happy to do this?

Skills and Experience

• The successful candidate will have proven experience managing large-scale business and technology transformation projects.
• Demonstrable experience of the application of project management methodologies, implementing robust governance frameworks and knowledge of the project management lifecycle
• For more senior roles, evidence of leading and developing cohesive, high performing teams
• Experience of leading large and complex Projects either singularly or as part of a larger programme
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

Academic and Professional Qualifications

• Holds PRINCE2® practitioner qualification
• Holds, or is working toward, MSP® practitioner or another specialist PPM qualification (such as, but not exclusively, MoR®, P3O®, ITIL®)
• Holds, or is working toward, full membership of APM
• Other industry recognised qualifications (desirable)
