Role Summary
The Project Manager III is a subject matter expert in project management support for small and or medium company projects at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in managing projects in accordance with established processes and procedures and provide recommendations to address various groups both within divisions as well as across divisions.
Key Duties
Provides professional support across the Enterprise PMO team.
Develops, makes recommendations, and maintains project plans, charters, and schedules that support customer needs.
Partners with the sponsor or Sr. PM to create alignment and define the project business objectives, measurable benefits, success criteria, scope, deliverables and constraints impacting project delivery.
Monitors project schedule, cost, and progress to ensure projects are completed on time and fulfill the objectives of the project charter.
Communicates project status to participants and stakeholders in writing as well as in formal presentations.
Able to distill complex ideas into clear, concise communications and customize messages to audience.
Creates project scorecards and contributes to executive level reporting.
Leads teams in project execution and ensures the project follows established company project management methodologies and standards.
Organizes meetings with various work teams to collect and disseminate project information, plan and schedule tasks and resources, generate timelines, and structure a process for consensus and individual commitment for deliverables.
Identifies and communicates any unresolved complex problems or possible timeline issues along with recommended actions for correction.
Advises sponsor and team on best practices, explores alternatives and guides project and team to success.
Independently ensures project methodology, documents and processes are followed.
Able to work in any area of Alaska’s business as the need arises (may seek advice from EPMO management or Sr. PM).
Manages relationships with suppliers and vendors for project success.
Serves as tactical thought partner for sponsors and team on effective project execution.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
4 years of experience working on project teams as a team member or project lead.
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Demonstrated aptitude to independently manage projects and manage multiple objectives/tasks.
Demonstrated ability to positively influence project outcomes using analytical approach and instilling a sense of urgency in the project team to complete work on time.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology groups.
Proven success leading project efforts to completion.
Ability to identify problems and collaboratively develop alternatives for resolution.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge to define and develop People Change Management / Business Readiness plans for projects.
PMP certification or desire to obtain PMP certification.
Experience with MSFT Teams and SharePoint.
Experience with Smartsheet, MS Project, MS Teams or other schedule management and collaboration tools.
