Position Summary:

The Project Engineer shall be responsible for leading a variety of engineering projects ranging from continuous improvement of existing products to the development and implementation of new parts, systems, and boats.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation in coordination with Engineering Management.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress in coordination with Engineering Management.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to Engineering Leadership as needed.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Participate in all phases of new product development, especially Concept Development, Design Validation, and Process/Production Validation
  • Coordinate efforts as necessary between Product Development and Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and suppliers
  • Ability to organize, and review CAD part drawings and manufacturing documentation for boats built by Lebanon Operations, review drawings for accuracy and compliance to standards.  Gather as-built information to ensure accuracy.
  • Work with other Product Development and Engineering personnel to establish, update, and manage Bills of Material
  • Participate in the Engineering Change Request/Notification (ECR/ECN) process as needed, including writing ECR’s
  • Be a contributor on problem solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Respond to requests from other departments as necessary and appropriate
  • Carry out cross-functional assignments and projects when needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the systems utilized to carry out the tasks for this position including OBMS, Solidworks PDM, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field is required
  • Great educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering for technical project managers
  • 5 years of experience as a project lead or administrator 
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in boat or mechanical design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design is a plus but not required
  • Must be a self-starter capable of working both independently, as well as part of a team
  • Experience in product development and/or engineering and manufacturing experience required
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and developing a coordinated datum structure for individual parts and assemblies.
  • Product Data Management (PDM) experience would be very beneficial
  • Working knowledge of appropriate engineering principles
  • Working knowledge of appropriate ABYC/NMMA certification would be very beneficial
  • Working knowledge of boat manufacturing processes and techniques would be beneficial
  • Boating experience would be beneficial
  • Must be willing to work more than 40 hours per week periodically to complete the job
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Must have solid analytical skills and be a good problem solver
  • Must have demonstrated ability to manage projects to successful completion
  • Working knowledge of Bill of Materials systems would be a plus
  • Green Belt certification is required within one year of hire if not already obtained
