Job Summary:
Project Engineer performs detailed planning for work activities within the department ranging in value from $1K to $1million. You will review and understand department requirements, investigate and determine appropriate execution and resource strategies, and develop efficient work plans for us. You will maintain plan information, status, and close-out details managing "plan vs actual" variances and recovery plans. As Project Engineer you will receive and evaluate customer work orders including scope validation with customers, determining the craftwork tasks and skills to accomplish the work order.
You will report to the Director of Horticulture & Resort Enhancement
Responsibilities:
Plan, and analyze maintenance and resort enhancement operations and activities to promote the economical use of the Workforce (Labor Hours and Staffing Levels), Materials (Repairable and Consumable)
Maintain long and short-term maintenance and production plans to support customer requirements, while maximizing efficiency and equipment use; will develop a master resource plan and coordinate workload with other departments; will develop policies that ensure compliance with state and local laws and business practices
Help in developing project goals and project schedule (scope) for all types of construction, maintenance, and resort enhancement projects.
Determine project responsibilities, identify project phases and elements, assign personnel to phases and elements, and review bids from contractors.
Complete technical assessment of products and applications; prepare cost estimates.
Maintain project schedule by overseeing project progress, coordinating activities, sequencing project elements, and resolving problems
Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions
Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts
Prepare project status reports by collecting and analyzing information and trends; recommend actions
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company standards/procedures, rules, and regulations and comply with federal and state regulations
Job Plan Development & Issue Resolution
Be the single contact to work with Engineering, WDI, and resort enhancement and operations groups to resolve challenges
Assist Planning Manager in developing Maintenance Strategies, sustainment plans, and facility rehabs. Identify issues related to Guest impacts and develop failure analysis for assets
Help develop performance reports and trend charts for potential productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Perform all scheduling support for the department for specified projects.
Maintain computerized schedules depicting detailed work activity sequencing and resource allocation guided by the strategic and detailed plans and integrate individual schedules into a master schedule
Manage operational level detail incorporating procurement, fabrication, and implementation activities into an integrated master schedule
Update schedules throughout the work plan life cycle. Collect/report progress, evaluate schedule variances, develop workaround plans, and coordinate resolution of variances
Conduct workforce loading/resource analysis and progress curves
Perform planning and scheduling that complies with Corporate, Environmental Protection Agency, SCAQMD, Federal and state legal/regulatory standards
Material Controls
Support the purchasing, receiving, and expediting functions of the department with proper documentation
Review specifications for purchasing requirements, investigate and obtain materials and obtain vendor quotes
Procure parts and materials through the Material Specialist, calling work orders to vendor(s), determine the number of items required, and prepare performance specifications or process specifications for work performance
Assist the department management and material specialists in the development of logistics processes
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in facilities and maintenance/engineering
Experience in construction or construction project management
Program planning and management, scheduling, and material control skills
Understanding of how to consolidate multiple sources of information/analyses into a cohesive story and recommendation
Proficient in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
Read and comprehend engineering and architectural drawings and blueprints
Convey technical/non-technical data to hourly and salaried Cast Members
Can perceive and visualize systems operations and theoretical methods. Requires solid reasoning
Affect change of priorities based on the situation and maintain constant communications
Mentor ability along with keen situational awareness to help train other Planner/Schedulers
Required Education
Bachelor's Art or Science in Engineering/ Construction Management or Bachelor's with 8+ years of relevant Disney Resort Maintenance & Construction & Engineering experience
Preferred Education
Master's of Art or Science
Experience with MAXIMO
