 Overview 

Commerce Financial Services is part of Commerce & Ecosystems organization and is responsible for delivering millions of transactions and one broad experience for licensing, purchase, fulfillment, billing, and financials within Microsoft. We are responsible for the design and execution of programs that safeguard the critical processing of revenue transactions and financial recognition throughout a complex ecosystem of services.

 

We are looking for a Technical Program Manager within the Financial Experience team in the Commerce Finance organization. Our team is looking for a program manager to execute agile sprints within a fast paced, high visibility program to redesign core elements of Microsoft’s financial planning and forecasting infrastructure.

This technically savvy and operationally disciplined TPM will be responsible for corporate planning, forecast & budget cycle process related activities. As part of the team, this program manager will drive an agile team on assigned projects in partnership with Software Engineering, Service Engineering and Release Management. This Program Manager will also need to engage directly with the Product Groups to work through any product related needs a project may require.

The successful candidate will be a Program Manager with a record of successfully delivering complex, cross discipline projects.

  • Project scope definition, and project planning.
  • Standard project management tasks including schedule, tracking progress, managing issues & risk and compliance with other releases (e.g., Sustain releases).
  • Present program status and issues to Management on a regular and consistent basis in regular status reporting and status meetings.
  • Providing Business Partner input represented in both business and technical terms with descriptive requirements and design including mock-ups and process workflows, to ensure the value of the project is realized.
  • Creating high quality user stories including testable Acceptance Criteria
  • Ensuring projects consistently meet standards and policies (agile, security, privacy, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple releases at the same time using a weekly agile sprint delivery model
  • Understanding technical architecture to determine project impacts.
  • Engaging with Software Engineering to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Driving weekly sandbox Business Partner feedback collection sessions with internal stakeholders and delivering feedback to the Software Engineering Team effectively and timely.
  • Providing actionable detail for the Software Engineering Team on future project phase requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of program management or product management or product design experience working with partners in non-engineering organizations.
  • 1+ years of experience driving and delivering extensible software services solutions integrating with ERP products (SAP), commercial software, and/or custom developed applications at scale.
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, industrial design, finance, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to drive large scale projects with high collaboration and leadership
  • SCRUM/Agile delivery skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Excellent judgment, decision making skills, and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience of presenting to senior management

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
