JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview:

The basic function of the production technician is to utilize manufacturing work instructions to assemble purchased parts into finished Commercial Vehicle System products.

Job Responsibilities:

Technicians have the responsibility and authority to:
ʉۢUnderstand what constitutes producing a quality product that meets customer expectations, be able to work flexible hours. Be able to read, comprehend, and execute written instructions
•Operate machinery according to set procedures; meeting productivity goals in a safe, quality, and environmentally sound, cost-effective manner
ʉۢUse precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to determine adherence of product characteristics to given specifications
ʉۢSafely operate a fork truck, if assigned, and own a valid company forklift license
ʉۢInitiate action, up to and including stopping the line, to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems
ʉۢIdentify and record any product, process, and quality problems
ʉۢInitiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
•Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
ʉۢPerform rework and repair operations on nonconforming material
ʉۢPerform preventative maintenance to all equipment, notify the proper maintenance personnel of necessary repairs
•Maintain flexible work culture with the ability to learn and operate all equipment
ʉۢComply with all Meritor written environmental (ISO 14001) and quality (TS16949) policies. Ensure a safe work environment.
ʉۢSupport development of a continual improvement, employee involvement culture.Complete all other job tasks as required by leadership
•Maintain best practice safety and housekeeping standards with emphasis on 5S
•Support development of the team to track key performance data, identify variances, and determine root causes, implement corrective action, and documentation to meet or exceed goals

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

•High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required

•Must have two (2) years of experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication or electrical/electronics field

•Must understand and be able to use basic math, fractions, basic algebra, decimals and metrics

•Must be able to read and understand work instructions

•Must be flexible and be able to work in a team environment

•Must be able to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers

•Ability to physically access all areas of the plant and communicate clearly with management and other technicians. During any shift, individuals may be required to physically: stand (5-6 hours); use both hands to grasp tools and parts, and push and pull (3-4 hours);use of head and neck in a static or turning motion (3-4 hours);and looking forward, side to side, and down (7-8 hours). Some departments require being able to lift up to 30-45lbs without assistance, and greater than 45lbs with hoist assistance.
