Job Description

Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Production Control Manager, the Production Planning Coordinator’s responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Assists/Coordinates in developing Master Schedule requirements from demand forecast, plant capacity, and historical data.
  • Works directly with sales, insides sales and plant staff as needed to achieve customer commitments.
  • Assists/Coordinates the procurement of Work In Process (WIP) materials and other production supplies to support manufacturing operations.
  • Assists/Coordinates the movement of production orders between factories as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Assists/Coordinates in managing inventories in an effort to improve accuracy, minimize costs and achieve plant inventory goals.
  • Assists/Coordinates in maintaining accurate needs attention and obsolete inventory and implement systems for improvement.
  • Assists/Coordinates in tracking/analyzing data and producing reports to drive business results.
  • Assists/Coordinates in updating and maintaining the planning production system.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel, shipping personnel, purchasing personnel, etc. on material status and production planning issues.
  • Coordinates with the manufacturing floor, operations management, and the shipping dept. to actively manage the production schedule.
  • Follows and audits production orders through the production process to ensure the proper schedule is followed.
  • Monitors manufacturing system transactions for accuracy and works with leaders to correct discrepancies and eliminate the fundamental causes of the problems.
  • Coordinates material delivery with inventory to support manufacturing schedule. May examine material delivered to production to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Compiles records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
  • Monitors daily progress of manufacturing orders.
  • Monitors quality, service, and delivery issues and issues corrective/preventative actions as needed.
  • Plans and schedules production orders based on established priorities and the availability of required materials and capacity. Follows up to determine actual performance versus estimates.
  • Assembles work order packets daily for each shift.
  • Maintains the capacity report so that it can be used as a tool in the planning and scheduling process.
  • Performs the Production Control Manager’s duties in his/her absence.
  • Supports plant safety systems and actively participates in plant safety initiatives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in a production planning/logistics/materials management role
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel 

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in business, logistics management or a related area preferred
  • AS400 experience and knowledge
  • Certificates in Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing are highly desired
  • Experience working in manufacturing, operational, and customer service environments
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office with specific emphasis on Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word
  • Proven ability to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completion

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

Working Conditions

  • Generally works in an office setting but will be required to perform some job duties in a plant environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic 
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • The noise level is frequently loud
