Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Individual must be capable of performing all of the following job duties as required:
- Must be an active participant in the department safety team.
- Must be knowledgeable of all equipment, understand the process, and be able to perform all jobs in the department whenever necessary. This includes but is not limited to: Ingredient Supply, Line Operator, Package Operator, Mixer Operator, Sanitation, Production Specialist and Manufacturing Attendant whenever necessary.
- Troubleshoot minor electrical problems and troubleshoot and repair low to mid-level mechanical problems. Make sure all equipment on the line is in working order, including performing routine preventative maintenance. Assist the technical department with repairs and projects.
- Understand and follow all Standard Operating Procedures for producing quality product, report all deviations to process procedures, and actively work to correct any process deviation in the minimum time.
- Actively work to maintain and improve production processes and must be able to document processes for others to follow.
- Effectively lead, direct, and communicate information to a designated group of employees.
- Effectively lead to ensure Company rules and regulations regarding Quality Assurance and GMP’s are adhered to while ensuring polices and procedures are followed.
- Coordinate and lead with departmental start-ups, mid-week cleans and shut-downs and improve activities related to these both.
- Responsible for ensuring proper material usage, capturing accurate recording of production and material usage information and downtime.
- Maintain yields and quality within the department at the expected levels or better.
- Participate in the hiring process for hourly associates.
- Train new employees and certify their ability to perform their job with the expected level of quality, efficiency, and yields while maintaining the proper GMP’s and doing so with the expected level of safe behavior to ensure zero injuries..
- Ensure area is clean and orderly.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Must be capable of accurately entering information into CDC, daily trackers, and shift reports (or other recording systems).
- Coordinate staffing for the lines to include vacation, absenteeism coverage and overtime needs following agreed Company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring all jobs in the area are performed in a safe and efficient manner as required by company policies and procedures and in accordance with expected safe behaviors.
- Provide feedback to managers for input into evaluation of hourly production associates in their area
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a matrix organization
- Highly motivated
- Mechanically inclined with good basic skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control, GMP’s and HACCP
- Basic math / business math skills
- Certified (or willing to obtain certification) of OSHA Forklift Operator
- One year of continuous employment with the Jackson Facility
- No more than three (3) points
- No disciplinary actions above an oral warning in the past twelve (12) months
- Understanding of plant policies and procedures
Education and / or Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree. Associates Degree in Business or related field is preferred. Certification in Industrial Technology or similar field is a plus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. Occasionally, the employee is exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
