Production Assistant is to complete tasks that are necessary to the production process. They aid in metal shop with loading and unloading sheet metal, moving product to various areas to continue the process flow. They will aid in kitting, shipping, electropolish, and assembly area when needed to meet customer needs. Successful candidates with strong attention to detail and the ability to closely follow instructions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
• Loading and unloading sheet metal to be cut
• Assisting with movement of product through out the production floor
• Setting up metalwork machinery including cold saw, drill presses, band saw, brakes, tape measure and/or calipers
• Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work
• Fabricating and constructing metal components
• Assisting in assembly, electropolish, or kitting when needed
• Performing quality checks on completed products
• Following safety guidelines at all times
• All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
• Good understanding of quality control principles
• Good communication skills
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
• Ability to lift and manipulate large metal pieces
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to work in a Non-A/C environment

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 0-2 years of experience as a Metal Fabricator

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• While performing duties of the job, incumbent is required to stand for full shift; walk; sit; use hand to finger handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
• Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up 75 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Non-A/C work area; the noise level can periodically be higher than normal, hearing protection may be required
