Wholesale Credit & Lending (WCL) is an important contributor to the Group: it supports 80% of the revenues generated by Wholesale banking and forms a key part of the Group-wide transformation.


In 2020 we announced the formation of a WCL Transformation & Delivery organisation, bringing together credit and lending-related transformation programmes across Commercial Banking, Global Banking, Risk Transformation and Digital Business Services.


WCL Transformation & Delivery is responsible for delivering high priority programmes to simplify, digitise at scale and automate the credit and lending journey, as well as supporting the creation of a new, globally consistent credit and lending organisation serving both GB and CMB business lines which collectively build towards our vision of becoming a leader in digitally enabled domestic and cross border lending across network, by improving customer experience generating competitive advantage through use of data and participation in emerging borrowing models.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of â€“ Product Owner – Wholesale Credit & Lending


The Product Owner will define the product vision, prepare a full product backlog and a product roadmap that aligns with the overall (Wholesale, Credit & Lending) WCL transformation strategy especially focusing on Financial Spreading and analysis. The PO will be responsible for delivering value to the business, engaging with the global and regional stakeholders and users to ensure the team is building the correct product.


In this role you will be:

  • Responsible for the Financial Spreading product vision, strategy, roadmap of what is to be built by collaborating with the wider global and regional stakeholders and communicating to the IT, Change and BAU teams
  • Responsible for leading the design of Features and Epics, which are broken down into smaller stories
  • within the product backlog in a prioritised order to be built by the Agile delivery teams
  • Ensure other IT product owners, Vendors, and Product delivery managers understand all requirements, and they are planned for delivery
  • Ensure that the product meets the HSBC quality standards and cover all bases with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance and other supporting areas
  • Ensure that the product is fit for purpose within different regions and adapt as vital to enable global rollouts
  • Working closely with the IT delivery and architecture teams to ensure that the solution is fit for purpose and meets the product requirements. Provide feedback for improvements in an iterative delivery model
  • Working closely with the business architecture and business analyst teams to ensure the product meets the Target operating model and process flows and adapt as vital
  • Work closely with the Programme delivery lead to prepare a product roadmap that aligns with the overall portfolio transformation strategy and portfolio roadmap.
 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Validated Product Ownership experience in a complex (preferably global) environment financial services industry is crucial. This role would also suit someone with a consulting background working on projects within banking
  • Proven track record in leading teams using agile methodology and nurturing talent is essential
  • Experience in Credit and lending within commercial / global banking is essential
  • Covenants lifecycle management experience is essential
  • Industry recognised certification within Agile methodology then that is preferred.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving ability.
  • Consistent track record to rapidly develop matter expertise in a range of technical and non-technical areas.
  • Requirements gathering experience and conducting design activity with a mix of business, operations, and technology-focused products/ projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and to deliver on time.
  • Experience in leading resources using appropriate communication, delegation, and planning skills.
  • Ability to empower and lead people, employing appropriate management styles.
  • Proven ability to work across regions whilst maintaining a global perspective.
  • Ability to work with IT teams to deliver on tight schedules.
