A Shopper Product Manager develops a deep understanding of customer needs through user research and analytics, collaborating closely with user researchers, and data teams.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead and plan product discovery activities with cross-discipline teams and wider partners to develop our understanding of user problems, and opportunities
• Facilitate standard methodology user centred design processes to explore complex problems, broad themes or desired initiatives
• Work closely with user researchers to conduct user research, deepening our knowledge of customer needs and motivations to help to clarify discovery goals
• Assess and synthesise existing customer insight, business strategy and wider market insight to help evaluate the state of play, providing context for the discovery
• Encourage participation from subject matter experts across LEGO, bringing specialist domain specific insight to the discovery
• Map out existing customer journeys, highlighting problems, customer emotions, key insights and opportunities for added customer value
• Develop hypotheses that are focused on delivering value to customers, and map against portfolio objectives and key results
• Work closely with design leads to plan and facilitate ideation activities that encourage divergent and convergent thinking around solving customer needs
• Develop user testing strategies that provide the discovery team with methods to test ideas and/or prototypes to provide rapid feedback loops from customers
• Analyse, and theme user testing insight, helping the discovery team adapt and priorities based on what is learnt
• Develop service blueprints for new customer journeys, outlining front stage touchpoints and key back-stage support processes and capabilities
• Be confident and brave to determine what to proceed with and where a solution needs to be paused or re-scoped based on user need, value and complexity
• Work with existing product teams to analyse the problem and possible solutions, working through complex deliverables in the most efficient way possible
• Plan demos with relevant partner groups, focusing not just on the outputs but also the rationale and approach on how the discovery team arrived there
• Present discovery outcomes to relevant customer groups, outlining key findings and recommendations on next steps
• Develop an ambitious and clear product vision and communicate it effectively to relevant partners and the team, so they’re aligned, and invested in the strategic direction
• Where validated by user needs, translate product strategy into a product roadmap, identifying and generating new ideas that grow market share, drive commercial and business value and improve customer experience
• Act as a subject matter expert for the product team, providing insight, context and additional information as needed to help understanding of what is required

• Ensure effective leadership of the team; maintaining a continuous learning environment, setting clear objectives to ensure there is clarity on what needs to be achieved for any given work
• Offer a supportive coaching style, proactively encouraging personal and professional development and achievement across the product team
Technical Skills (non-exhaustive)
• Critical thinking – developing product vision & strategy, value propositions, and defining product market fit
• Product optimisation techniques – setting up experiments such as A/B and multi-variant tests to validate and build confidence in our hypotheses
• Product Frameworks e.g. agile development, value proposition design, lean canvas, JTBD, ITIL
• Tools e.g. Confluence, data visualisation, Figma, Jira, Version One
• Voice of Customer – collaborating with the design team and insights to devise ways to understand customer needs and underlying motivators
