Job Description
This position is responsible for leading the implementation of supplies’ (consisting of labels, tags, ribbons, and RFID labels) marketing strategies, collaborating with Commercial, Market Development Managers, and Label Solutions engineering teams to identify and bring to market new supplies products while driving the sale of supplies products around the world for the Identification Solutions Division’s target markets. Supplies are a key component of the overall product categories which also include printers, RFID inlays, devices, software and integrated end-to-end solutions comprised of all key components.
At the direction of and in collaboration with the Senior Supplies Product Manager, the position initiates, drives, and oversees the implementation of internal and external activities that assist the organization in maximizing sales growth and profit contribution. This role manages the day-to-day requirements of assisting sales and estimating with quoting custom supplies.
The Supplies Product Manager recommends new products for focus market segments and works with the Engineering teams to bring the products to market on schedule. Additionally, they provide all the needed information and training to ensure that the sales team can successfully sell. The role also supports sales efforts as the solutions expert, at times in person, to develop large customer opportunities and assist in closing business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Implementation
- Provides recommendations on product positioning versus competitive products, provides product development insights, product service programs, pricing guidelines, and profitability targets. Identifies, defines, selects and prioritizes new product opportunities.
- Develops knowledge to understand market trends and identify opportunities in product technology in order to craft effective market strategies.
- Creates and maintains analysis of the market with a focus on market trends, market size, competitive solutions and positioning, market share and customer needs for the product portfolio.
- Collaborates with the Label Solutions engineering R&D team, leads the identification of new supply products for development by R&D that will enable growth in target Identification Solutions Division’s market segments.
- Conducts competitive product assessments and develops new product or product positioning strategies to compete.
- Manages TFS supplies products and provides day-to-day support to commercial and estimating teams.
- Works with the pricing department on the supplies portion of a price book.
- Collaborates with Commercial, Market Development Managers, Operations and Procurement teams on forecasting of supplies and RFID inlays.
Product Launches and Support
- Plans product launches while leading an implementation team that organizes the internal and external activities necessary for a smooth introduction of new products.
- Coordinates communication and promotional campaigns (i.e. product/segments literature, trade shows, brochures, PR in magazines, internal/external newsletters, sales actions, sample packs, etc.)
- Partners with Commercial and MDM teams to develop a pipeline of growth opportunities, representing both customer specific new product opportunities and products. Ensures that new products are introduced professionally, driving appropriate positioning, pricing, sales materials, promotions and accompanying services through clear and complete launch packages and training programs.
- Coordinate process with commercial, MDM and operations for non RFID and RFID supplies forecast.
- Define and drive short and mid-term product plans and longer term product roadmaps by defining, developing and introducing new and upgraded products for the market in order to meet market needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ year’s business experience in technical sales, product management, marketing of labels or associated products, or other directly related experience.
- Experience with product development, product commercialization, and marketing processes.
- Strong ability to collaborate as part of a team and to work cross-functionally.
- Strong financial skills and business acumen.
- Knowledgeable on conducting market analysis and planning.
- Strong understanding of supplies products and thermal printing application and technical information. Knowledge of RFID preferred.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty while exhibiting courage and vision.
- Initiative taker who is adaptable to fast-developing situations and markets.
