The Product Integrity department manages the safety and compliance of products being sold or distributed with Disney brands, characters and other intellectual property. Our corporate Product Integrity group is staffed with experienced engineers and safety professionals around the world verifying product compliance. Our team is seeking a Product Integrity Engineer/Analyst who will focus on the research and development scope of product compliance requirements for plush toys.

Our business partners are pioneering into new business opportunities that are atypical of legacy merchandise channels. Product integrity Engineer/Analyst will work to research and develop requirements setting for each new business model and region. This role uses fundamental engineering skills and understanding of manufacturing and product creation environments, including staying abreast of global consumer product safety standards and regulations. A successful candidate is metrics-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize data to assess and manage risk. The candidate needs to have the ability to gain buy-in from stakeholders through clear and straightforward communication, and has experience in successfully initiating, planning, implementing, and closing a project/process within scope, budget, and time constraints. Successful candidates act with courage, foster effective teamwork, instill trust, ensure accountability, and are able to communicate vision and purpose.

Responsibilities:

Research and Development

  • Research Product Safety and Quality Manuals of key retail partners- including labeling, testing, and inspection requirements. Ensure Disney’s product safety program for assigned category is aligned with retailers’ expectations.
  • Work with third party testing labs and internal stakeholders on developing and maintaining Disney’s Product Guidelines for new and existing regions of distribution.

Operations

  • Review product labeling and packaging to confirm compliance to regional and retailer requirements.
  • Evaluating product designs against global consumer product regulations, Disney’s, and retailer’ product safety requirements.
  • Assign products for testing and auditing at third-party testing labs, review reports, and communicate testing/inspections concerns with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update Disney’s Packaging and Labeling guides by ensuring regulatory changes and retailer buyer requirements are covered.

Business Partnerships

  • Maintain effective work relationships by partnering with assigned business partners, worldwide, to ensure a high quality and safe product is delivered within cost and on time.
  • Act as a technical resource and safety consultant to internal and external stakeholders regarding appropriate statutory, regulatory, and Disney product safety requirements for a variety of merchandise across regions of distribution.
  • Work with management to develop and maintain department’s standard operating procedures and technical databases.
  • Notify stakeholders of upcoming changes to product compliance requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years or more of relevant work experience in product safety, quality, manufacturing, with a working knowledge of consumer product safety standards and regulations (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM F963, EN 71, ISO 8124, CFR, etc.)
  • Toy industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
