JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Product Engineer

DUTIES: Design, develop, test, apply and perform production release of Defense and Specialty Axle, Suspension Electric Drive and Driveline Products; support current products and customers including OEMs and end users; interface directly with external customers, end users, and suppliers as well as interface with purchasing, sales, product support, component testing and manufacturing functions; support extensive detailed design of Defense and/or specialty vehicle components and products; perform structural design engineering of components and assemblies which will require analytical, tolerancing and structural analysis skills to complete; perform engineering calculations necessary for the product design of axle, suspension and driveline components and systems; perform calculations including structural component stress and fatigue life, geometrical fit, and static and dynamic load calculations, etc. using CAE tools; support off-site prototype build and testing within Meritor and at customer facilities; and establish/use excellent working relationships with team members, outside suppliers, customers and other internal personnel or support groups.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and two years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: experience with axle/suspension component architecture and layout; experience working with gearbox systems; experience with Creo CAD design software; experience with automotive component design and optimization; experience with planning and executing validation testing of mechanical systems; experience with test failure root cause analysis and reporting; and experience with test fixture validation and design. International and domestic travel required as needed, up to 12%

International and domestic travel required as needed, up to 12%
