Joining an already successful, collaborative and Costa Innovation team, your role will be the Product Design (Industrial Design) Lead (Senior).

The Product Design Lead (Industrial Design) is responsible for producing cutting edge design products & enhancing product experience. You will identify, create & execute design-led innovations that will enable Costa Express to lead the industry and create a sustainable advantage for the company.

As Industrial design lead, you will be responsible for shaping and driving the design vision for Costa’s products. You will challenge the status quo and push the boundaries of design. You will have a passionate eye for detail & champion great design. The candidate will be custodian of all aesthetic elements of the Costa portfolio, ensuring all Costa touch points (both digital & physical products) are consistent with the design code & brand values.

You will collaborate with our research, brand & other stakeholders, to conceive, define and execute

innovative world class products. Manage the relationships with our external partners to execute these design programmes. You will be an integral part of the innovation team and will lead all aspect of the design process from research to strategy, ideation, visualisation, and realisation of concepts.

The applicant needs to be well versed in the application and use of industry / product design tools & methodologies to bring concepts to life.

Own the look and feel of Costa’s products

To Lead the Industrial design activities for the entire Express platform and leverage industrial design to promote design-led innovation.

Develop innovative and user-centric solutions in every step of the product process to create consumer loved products, functions & innovations.

Drive & Influence in all stages of design from concept to production.

Lead design and product experience reviews with stakeholders.

To curate and implement a common design language and visual identity.

Will challenge assumptions and bring the ability to adapt or generate imaginative and innovative ideas to the unique problems associated to achieving ‘best-in-class’ design.

Will have a passionate eye for detail & sweat the intricate details of the design while keeping the overall design intent in mind.

Quickly ideate, visualise & demonstrate (where needed) multiple design solutions – to a very hi-resolution.

Utilise digital and physical tools to validate designs and solutions (models, physical rigs, renderings, 2D prints)

To influence all levels – and clearly articulate consumer needs & solutions proposed.

Manage & collaborate with our external partners to deliver solutions.

A bit about you…

A degree in Industrial Design / Product Design or equivalent

Experience working in a consultancy or as part of internal design team.

Proven experience developing products from concept to realisation.

Experience from consumer, consumer electronics.

Extensive product experience knowledge – CMF, UI / UX.

Consumer centric & champion of consumer centric design.

Demonstrable knowledge of design and trends.

Highly skilled in sketching, form development, 3D surface quality, and 3D modelling. – applications such as (e.g., NX, Rhino, Alias, Solidworks or equivalent).

Experienced in rendering software (e.g., Keyshot, VRed, or equivalent).

Proficient in 2D design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, or equivalent).

Bias for action, Self-starter, owns & drives projects & manage relationships.

Effective communicator & storyteller, able to create insightful narratives & influence both technical & non-technical audiences.

Thinks strategically, but also enjoys hands on / practical work.

Presenting to diverse stake holders

Demonstrable knowledge of design for prototyping & production.

Flexible and accustomed to fast paced working environments.

Consumer centric problem solver

Provides strategic design direction

Demonstrable experience in product / industrial design (including a portfolio)
