Job Summary:

The ABC NEWS DC Bureau is looking for a Producer to cover general assignments. Candidates must have a strong editorial background in a breaking news environment along with proven & experienced camera shooting skills. We are looking for a strong visual storyteller who demonstrates creative skills with a camera. Being a team-player and having a passion for story telling are essential for this position. Editing proficiency with Avid, Adobe Premiere and After Effects, a plus. The general assignment producer must have experience working with on-air talent and be able to arrange interviews and location shots as well as produce content under strict deadlines.

Other essential skills include time management and highly developed communication and writing skills. Event coverage and location-based production frequently require evening or weekend work in a fast-paced 24/7 news environment. The general assignment producer should also be prepared to work unconventional hours and be willing to travel to remote locations to cover a story. The general assignment producer will also be assigned to travel for White House, Pentagon & State Department network pool assignments, editorially and/or technically.

Finally, the candidate must have experience leading and managing production crews in the field. Must have extensive knowledge working with Live trucks, TVUs and file-based workflows. Candidate must have the capability to serve as a field producer during breaking news and special events coverage for network broadcasts and streaming platforms.

Basic Qualifications:

The candidate must have a minimum of five years’ experience as a producer and camera operator and have a valid driver’s license. Please include a link to your resume video reel.

Required Education

• BA or BS from a four year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
