About the role

This is an important role within the legal department, and together with other members of the Legal Procurement, is accountable for legal matters relating to VMO2’s technology infrastructure and products and plays a key part in shaping and supporting the acquisition, maintenance and resourcing of such initiatives including the effective delivery of all aspects of legal advice and strategy for VMO2 procurement covering all major supply contracts for JV services including Network Services and infrastructure, IT and software, consultancy and professional services, equipment and all other incoming supply contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Procurement, outsourcing, technology transfer arrangements together with engagements for the acquisition of commercial products and associated third-party supply contracts (including customer premise equipment supply agreements, technology middleware and application agreements, SaaS and other related product and service agreements)
• Providing legal advice and/or the setting of policy; working closely with the business, occasionally sitting within the business to build relationships and better understand key legal issues
• Responding to internal and external contacts in a timely and effective manner. Proactively progressing matters to a conclusion through efficient and effective planning and management to meet competing demands.
• Identifying areas of risk in relation to legal and operational matters, including related regulatory matters, and assists in providing solutions to manage these risks. Escalates important issues or concerns and seeks assistance and direction where appropriate.
• Supporting other areas when necessary, taking on responsibilities to support the legal function and business.
• Seeking feedback from the business, external partners, or clients to ensure quality of service and work output is maintained to the highest standards and that deliverables and expectations are exceeded.
• Staying up to date with legal developments and key business information, is aware of the marketplace and VMO2’s position within it and sharing knowledge within the function; recognising when changes require action and advising of relevant stakeholders.
• Developing expertise in areas of specialism.
• Supporting other areas when necessary and picking up complex deals on an as needed basis.
