Job Description

Procurement Associate

Location: Greater London House, Mornington Crescent, NW1

Department:  Procurement

Reports to: Head of Procurement - Development and Operations

FTC: 24 months

THE ROLE

Procurement Associate – Apprentice

Do you have some procurement experience? Maybe you have worked in a purchasing, legal or finance role where you have gained a good insight into the world of procurement?

We are looking for someone who is keen to learn more and work in a fast-paced Procurement function where no two days are the same.

You will join the Procurement Development and Operations team but will be working within the various category teams on 3–6 month rotations.  You will be working with suppliers as well as stakeholders, finance and legal.

You will have the opportunity to spend 24 months working with the team covering the end-to-end procurement process, allowing you to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding whilst contributing to ASOS Procurement goals.

This post is for a fixed term period of up to 24 months and is part of a formal apprenticeship programme. Procurement apprentices are key to our future resourcing strategy providing an opportunity to develop high quality resource.

When would the apprenticeship start and how does it work?

Working towards Procurement & Supply, the training will be mostly delivered online as well as self-study, so you must have a passion for your own development.

You will be managed by a central line manager but will spend 3-6 months in the category teams on rotation. You will have a mentor to offer further support and, in addition to formal training, you will participate in Procurement L&D and gain on the job experience.

The key duties are:

  • Be able to demonstrate the skills learnt by increasingly working independently, being involved in and ultimately running tenders and negotiating with suppliers
  • Providing analytical support to the category managers and prepare reports for supplier meetings
  • Developing stakeholder relationships across the business
  • Performing market research and benchmarking where relevant
  • Maintaining records to demonstrate the learning completed and the development of core skills including negotiation, contracting, supplier relationship management and stakeholder management

We’d like to meet someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A*-C (9-4) or equivalent (including Maths and English)
  • Can articulate what a career in procurement involves and has some experience
  • Can demonstrate a strong customer focus with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has the ability to plan and organise work using own initiative
  • Can work collaboratively and flexibly within a team
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills

Your eligibility to apply

In addition to the criteria listed above, you must also be eligible to qualify for apprenticeship funding by meeting the following:

  • You must not be enrolled on another funded apprenticeship or another funded further education or higher education programme at the time you start
  • You are applying for an apprenticeship that is unrelated to any qualifications you already hold at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship

THE TEAM

The Procurement function at ASOS is responsible for all 3rd party expenditure with non-stock (GNFR) suppliers. We are organised to manage categories of spend and key stakeholder groups with the flexibility to pivot and prioritise.

Our vision is to:

  • Drive value from all GNFR spend, recognised to a common set of metrics
  • Deliver Operational Excellence – leveraging Lean principles wherever possible
  • Provide a seamless internal customer experience – like buying fashion from ASOS
  • Innovate to drive growth – harnessing the power of our suppliers
  • Ensure fit-for-purpose compliance and risk management
  • Automate non-value-add activities, enabled by the right Tech

Our ASOSers reflect the diverse society they live in; we celebrate our differences and welcome people from all different walks of life. We’re looking for people who can live and breathe our values of being authentic, brave, creative, and disciplined and we don’t care about labels - we recognise there are endless ways to be ‘you’.

What's in it for you?

  • A fixed term contract for 24 months
  • 25 days holiday
  • Free modern onsite gym
  • Huge staff discounts and sample sales
  • Participate in Procurement L&D
