Project Overview
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) will safely destroy 2,611 tons of mustard agent in mortar rounds and artillery projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) approximately 25 miles from Pueblo, Colorado. Neutralization followed by biotreatment is the technology selected by the Department of Defense to destroy the Pueblo chemical weapons stockpile. The PCAPP plant began the operations and munition destruction phase as of September 2016.
Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.
Position Summary
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) is looking for a Mechanical/Process Engineer at the Pueblo, CO location. This position will report to the Design Supervisor at the PCAPP project. Mechanical/Process Engineer reviews and coordinates documents with suppliers, other disciplines, and customers. Coordinates technical issues with Operation and provides assistance to Construction in the field. Proficient with basic engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications and calculations. Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Mechanical design products.
This PCAPP position falls under the scope of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act of 1965 (SCA). The SCA requires PCAPP to provide employees with benefits and wages no less than the amounts the Department of Labor has established for the location and classification in which the employee will be working.
Responsibilities:
This role will support design development of Mechanical systems and equipment for various projects in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
Develop design drawings (e.g., P&IDs & PFDs).
Perform formal calculations.
Size equipment and systems.
Develop equipment and material specifications and procurement documentation.
Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management.
Design Building Information Modeling (BIM) and coordination with other disciplines.
Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solutions.
Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
Level One
BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical or related), from an accredited university or in lieu of a degree, the suitable candidate must possess at least 6 years engineering experience.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical/Process systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.
US citizenship is required.
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety).
Basic Qualifications:
Level Two
BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, the suitable candidate must possess at least 7 years engineering experience.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical/Process systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.
US citizenship is required.
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety).
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably DOE and DOD.
Experience executing engineering and design with Revit.
Registered Professional Engineer in the USA (Mechanical or related Engineering).
Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
This project is subject to the Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety) which governs persons performing work under the Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements such as respirators may be mandated. Eligibility to be placed in a UAP position requires US citizenship.
