Job Description
As a Process Engineer, your responsibilities will include for both Kerr Facilities (Oxnard, CA and Salem, OR):
- Utilize lean principles, analyze process conditions and operational activities to propose corrective actions as needed to ensure the process operates in a cost effective and efficient manner.
- Assist Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting of processing equipment and increase process reliability using root cause analysis.
- Perform investigations for quality failures and propose corrective actions to address failures.
- Aid in day-to-day activities of the operation to produce products of quality and quantity to meet the projected demands of customers.
- Incorporate Safety, Health and Environmental compliance requirements into process improvements.
- Manage assignments in accordance with Ingredion Engineering Standards.
- Develop, evaluate and seek approval for process modifications and optimization programs to improve the efficiency and capability of plant processes.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives cross-functionally.
- Lead or participate in strategic process initiatives and studies.
- Review all R&D routers for specification changes, new material/chemicals, and inventory changes for production impact.
- Maintain process documentation for processes.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of operations personnel in operational techniques and standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to work off shift if necessary, to manage projects.
- Must also be available to travel to the Oxnard, CA facility when needed for support or manage projects.
Qualified candidates will have:
- BS degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering discipline (Other disciplines maybe considered based on experience).
- 3 - 5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to communicate across functional lines at all levels.
- Decision making ability, planning and time management skills.
- Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Access, Teams, Visio, Project, Outlook) and Windows proficiency.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement and lean methodologies and tools, such as RCA’s, Kaizens, waste reduction.
- Strong desire for continued personal development through training and mentoring.
- Ability to train and coach others to improve performance.
- A real sense of urgency in everything you do.
- Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.
- Ability to apply Ingredion’s Safety, Environmental and GMP standards.
- Computerized maintenance management experience desired.
- Experience with P&ID’s and PLC and diagrams in troubleshooting or design would be a plus.
- A willingness to “Roll Up Your Sleeves and Get Dirty†is a must.
