BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

The Process Engineer provides daily production support to the Lamination Department through the Gemba process in order to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost by analyzing process & quality data; utilizing root cause analysis to eliminate variation; implementing engineering changes and work instructions; designing new processes and systems to improve the flow of product through production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborates and partners with production team leaders to provide proper project selection to ensure projects impact key business initiatives
• Guides team members in continuous improvement initiatives for fiberglass boat manufacturing facility
• Manages & leads projects from concept through implementation
• Utilizes Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology to reduce waste and improve quality process controls
• Acquires & analyzes process and quality data to understand, improve, and measure process improvements
• Identifies, attacks, and improves bottlenecks by balancing work content for operators, stations, and production lines
• Modifies / designs / implements processes to improve production flow while considering chemical related constraints within the lamination process
• Works cross-functionally between production, engineering, and product development to reduce defects, improve product flow through the facility, and support new product launches
• Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective action to reduce process variation
• Designs & implements jigs, fixtures, and other production aids
• Creates work instructions, quality alerts, and process change notifications
• Reviews manufacturing areas for potential safety hazards and assures that all safety practices are followed while implementing new processes
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Three years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting production lines in a manufacturing environment is required
• Four-year engineering degree required in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering technology
• Fiberglass boat / lamination / FRP manufacturing knowledge is highly desired.
• OEM experience is preferred
• Must be self-motivated, high energy, and results oriented
• Strong organizational skills, effective planning, and proven track record of execution are required
• Must have a hands-on and customer-oriented approach to problem solving
• Must be able to work and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of the organization
• Must possess outstanding analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
• Proven track record leading & contributing to large cross-functional teams & projects
• Experience with reading and creating technical prints, Bill of materials, and CAD software required.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite required, MS Project experience a plus
• Must be flexible to work extended hours and travel to support the requirements of the business
• American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and National Marine Manufacturer Association (NMMA) certifications are a plus
