BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The Process Engineer provides daily production support to the Lamination Department through the Gemba process in order to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost by analyzing process & quality data; utilizing root cause analysis to eliminate variation; implementing engineering changes and work instructions; designing new processes and systems to improve the flow of product through production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates and partners with production team leaders to provide proper project selection to ensure projects impact key business initiatives
- Guides team members in continuous improvement initiatives for fiberglass boat manufacturing facility
- Manages & leads projects from concept through implementation
- Utilizes Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology to reduce waste and improve quality process controls
- Acquires & analyzes process and quality data to understand, improve, and measure process improvements
- Identifies, attacks, and improves bottlenecks by balancing work content for operators, stations, and production lines
- Modifies / designs / implements processes to improve production flow while considering chemical related constraints within the lamination process
- Works cross-functionally between production, engineering, and product development to reduce defects, improve product flow through the facility, and support new product launches
- Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective action to reduce process variation
- Designs & implements jigs, fixtures, and other production aids
- Creates work instructions, quality alerts, and process change notifications
- Reviews manufacturing areas for potential safety hazards and assures that all safety practices are followed while implementing new processes
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Three years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting production lines in a manufacturing environment is required
- Four-year engineering degree required in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering technology
- Fiberglass boat / lamination / FRP manufacturing knowledge is highly desired.
- OEM experience is preferred
- Must be self-motivated, high energy, and results oriented
- Strong organizational skills, effective planning, and proven track record of execution are required
- Must have a hands-on and customer-oriented approach to problem solving
- Must be able to work and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of the organization
- Must possess outstanding analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record leading & contributing to large cross-functional teams & projects
- Experience with reading and creating technical prints, Bill of materials, and CAD software required.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite required, MS Project experience a plus
- Must be flexible to work extended hours and travel to support the requirements of the business
- American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and National Marine Manufacturer Association (NMMA) certifications are a plus
