Job Summary
A Process Engineer will support and lead multiple projects as well as drive daily metrics and management systems.
This position will work with the rest of the Line Leadership Team (Cell) to develop practical and critical skills necessary to drive out losses, reduce yield, and improve the safety and quality of the products. The position is designed to expand technical and manufacturing strengths and to develop into operations management or pillar positions. Actual work will be focused on developing and improving standards for critical transformations, developing performance-based specifications, and providing the expertise in troubleshooting performance losses. The work must be focused on improving safety, quality, efficiency, and yield within the Cell.
Position Responsibilities
Own metrics for the Cell including efficiency, yield, and key Daily Management Systems.
Act as plant liaison to R&D including conducting trials.
Work with plant and corporate Engineering to develop and install new technologies.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert for technical aspects within the Cell.
Maintain Pillar involvement to drive out losses for Cell.
Work with Cell Lead and Maintenance Planner to provide direction for the Line Leadership Team.
Consistent interaction with operators, mechanics, and salary team to drive results.
Create and train new procedures and policies.
Meet or exceed project objectives under the direction of a supervisor.
Review and analyze results of experiments and trials to provide process recommendations.
Be flexible in learning and applying new ways of doing your work.
Assist in providing technical leadership on projects as required.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s in engineering Preferred / High School Degree or equivalent required
1-5 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Effective communication skills (both verbal and nonverbal) and the ability to present to leadership.
Familiarity with project management fundamentals.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Demonstrated strong leadership (Interpersonal, Team, and Organizational) and decision-making skills.
Structured problem-solving skills (preferred TPM/Six Sigma or other problem-solving models). Strong math skills.
Familiarity with Continuous Improvement tools and statistical tools is a plus
Understanding of manufacturing unit operations
Statistics, data modeling/analysis skills preferred
Technical judgment and prioritization skills.
Skilled in a Deliverables and Success Criteria-based environment.
Risk Anticipation and mitigation.
Experience working with external work partners, vendors, and suppliers on sensitive/confidential matters.
Ability to flex work hours based off plant run strategies.
Ambitious self-starter with ability to work with minimal direction
Flexible and able to work well in a team environment
Comfortable in a fast paced, changing environment
Comfortable working in manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements (optional)
Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally; and 25 lbs. regularly.
Work extensively in a production plant floor environment.
Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays to include: loud noise, heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.
Walking and/or standing for long periods of time.
Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders.
Bending and/or crawling; must be able to move safely and freely around machinery.
