Job Purpose:

The Process Engineer DS2 is tasked with leading the creation and implementation of new process innovations across our production sites and/or external partner sites through close collaboration with various R&D teams, engineering, operations and commercial.

The Process Engineer Development is a key partner in the delivery of our innovation pipeline across multiple technology platforms within Gum, Mints, Fruity Confections and healthy snacking.  This role is responsible for process design, specification development, qualification, commercialization and start-up of new and improved products, processes, and ingredients such that they are delivered on time and in accordance with specification.  The Process development Engineer will assess feasibility and develop new processes to enable new product launches by leveraging expertise across multiple technologies. 

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
• 3+ years technical experience in process development, production and manufacturing with understanding of processes, equipment and practices, leading the development, installation and start-up of new processes to deliver new products to market.
• Travel up to 25% (including international)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive R&D Process Development, leading the development and launch of confectionery and snack products working with both internal and external facilities

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Provide process engineering and validation expertise in the development of the technical solution, process specifications and product performance targets in order to deliver the global DS2 pipeline on time and within budget.
• Collaborate in the development of the testing plan, test execution and data analysis to quantify key process parameters and fundamental science at lab prototype, Pilot Plant, and factory scale.
• Identify, develop and evaluate innovative processing options to deliver key product attributes, including the evaluation of both technical and economic feasibility.
• Deliver scalable process specifications for all technology platforms collaboratively developed with Product Development, Factory Innovation and Supply Chain to achieve exceptional product attribute targets and ensure superior product quality and food safety.
• Build/maintain internal and external global networks within the technology community
• Ensure Pilot Plant and Lab have the capabilities needed to create products for current and future needs.
• Develop technical expertise through collaboration and mentoring from more senior engineers and scientists
• Initiates and coordinates trials for Commissioning, Validation, and Start-up planning and execution.
• Develop connections and relationships with peers in other regions, DS1 Factory Innovation, DS2 Factory Innovation and other R&D functions to share best practices and accelerate the global deployment of new innovations.
