Job Description

The Process Commissioning Engineer will be part of the Global Process Group and will be assigned to a project that is currently in construction and will go into the commissioning phase. In the future, the specialist is expected to work at project sites, resolve complex operational problems applying specialized engineering, scientific principles, and applied technology. As well as plant commissioning and ramp-up, the Specialist will take part on new technology development and deployment, will actively participate on conferences, technical group meetings and recognized venues that will contribute to and represent the Center of Excellences. These actives will be both within Bechtel and externally at key industry events.

 

Applicants are expected to have 5 to 10 years or more of relevant commissioning experience in projects and some operational experience in refineries would be advantageous.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with client’s team in the commissioning phase of the project.
  • Review process design and equipment installation – including checking of P and ID’s etc.
  • Participate in quality reviews at the site and preparedness for commissioning.
  • Develop process systems commissioning approach and strategy.
  • Participate in water commissioning and first fills activities.
  • Work hand in hand with the client’s team on ore commissioning.
  • Provide guidance and direction to engineering personnel in the development of advanced design criteria and specifications.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of drawings, design concepts, process sheets, procedures, and concepts.
  • Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
  • Present technical information at industry forums and internal technical meetings.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mineral processing engineering from an accredited university as well as 15+ years of work experience relevant to the industry sector for which the CCoE serves.
  • 10+ years working in an operating mineral processing facility.
  • Thorough understanding of scientific engineering systems, calculations, applications and construction methods and materials, and engineering or scientific application of computers.
  • Understanding of industrial and regulatory standards and design criteria in the engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge of sector-related design and execution practices and cost influences involved.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plant commissioning experience and past operational experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong customer contacts and engagement.
