Job Description

GENERAL DEFINITION: Under minimal direction, position is responsible for the set-up and operation of Print Band Molds.  Position is responsible for unloading, cleaning, and loading transfer molds using breaking tooling and various hand tools. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Interprets order specifications, set-ups and/or special instructions, blue prints and band specification sheets. 

  2. Responsible for the proper care of all molds, tooling, tools, gauges, fixtures, equipment, machines, mixers, and presses used. Responsible for the quality of mold setups.  

  3. Sets up print band molds to blueprint specifications, set-up charts, band specification sheets, verbal and/or written instructions. Ensures correct set-up and quality print band production per specifications. As required, cuts sheet metal to make appropriate shims. Performs final quality check and approvals.

  4. Disassembles molds and prepares for reassembly. Cleans/washes molds, tops, shims, and engravings. Cleans wash tank, changes filters, performs basic preventive maintenance on equipment and replaces cleaning materials. Utilizes overhead crane for mold and maneuverability. 

  5. Prepares, adds, and monitors chemicals and materials.

  6. Tracks where molds are in the dept. and in the production molding process.

  7. Responsible for mold and tooling inspection and expedites repair and replacement. Performs routine repair & general maintenance functions.  

  8. Records and reports all finished production and other departments required reporting via hand written documentation or via PC. May use Oracle for process data input and reporting.

  9. As a member of a production support team; trains, assists, and supports other team members in problem solving and meeting department goals. Continuously review current processes and discovers improvement methods to improve product/process quality, reduce waste, rework, and non-value added unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process. 

  10. Uses, and properly disposes of, various cleaning solvents.  Must keep accurate and detailed chemical usage records.  

11.  Participates in ELS training and Kaizen events as appropriate for the department.

12.  Participates in 5S within department/group and assists other areas as required.

13.  Based on business need, assists/ supports in other job functions within process or other company processes within scope and ability. 

14.  Must be safety conscious and follow established PPE.

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  2. 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.

  3. Demonstrated ability to interpret specifications, guidelines and instructions.

  4. Must have good communication skills and work as a member of a team.

  5. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions including demonstrated ability to interpret band specifications, blue prints, special instructions, and guidelines

  6. Must be able to learn and use various measuring devices

  7. Must be able to continuously stand, reach, pull and push.

  8. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.  

  9. Must be able to tolerate contact with various solvents and related fumes.

  10. Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and up to 90 lbs. with mechanical assistance or the help of another employee. Must be able to push and pull 120 lbs. on conveyer line.

  11. Must successfully complete and pass Hazardous Material Information Systems (HMIS) training. 

  12. Must be safety conscious and alert to safety hazards.
