We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to manage a team of engineers and applied scientists on our Azure Machine Learning Experiences team. The Experiences team is responsible for all the user facing aspects of the Azure Machine Learning service, including the Azure Machine Learning Studio web portal, our CLIs, SDKs and REST APIs. Azure Machine Learning is Microsoft's ML platform for machine learning and AI professionals, which is used for running the most demanding machine learning training and inferencing workloads at Microsoft and for our customers. 

In this role, you will help hire a diverse team of engineers and foster an inclusive environment where engineers grow their careers by delivering high impact and value to our customers. You will channel your customer obsession and data driven engineering to build quality engineering product in collaboration with partners and product managers. If that sounds like you, we want you to join our team and help us build the delightful user experiences that will make Azure Machine Learning the most enjoyable and productive ML platform in the world! 

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

• 5+ years of experience as a people manager 
• 10+ years of experience shipping software products 
• 5+ years of experience in JavaScript, React, Python, .NET, C#, or similar programming languages or platforms. 
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field), or equivalent alternative education, skills, or practical IT work experience is required. 

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  

• Experience in web development using Javascript frameworks like React or Angular. 
• Experience in Agile development practices or Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment workflows and tools. 
• Experience creating solutions using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud 

• Experience in client development (CLI or SDK) 
• Experience with Open-Source Software or Machine Learning. 
• Experience working on large-scale projects or applications. 
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse remote teams. 
• Fast-learner and passionate about solving complex and exciting problems.
