Responsibilities

This is a Principal Engineering Manager role with opportunity for deep technical impact, product innovation and team building with excellent opportunity for advancement.

You will be a strong product leader who can define the vision and provide technical leadership to 8+ engineers. You will have the responsibility to advance the frontiers of Microsoft Office business through new features, strong focus on fundamentals, innovation to drive higher business value across Excel and Office.

You will be an inspiring, inclusive and collaborative leader responsible for delivering on customer and business value. You will play a key role in building the team with right culture, partnering with other teams, planning sprints and executing on the plans that will impact millions of users across the world.

As part of your job, you will:

• Lead a team of 8+ engineers to design, architect and drive implementation of large-scale experiences spanning multiple systems and groups.
• Provide technical guidance and design leadership to your team. 
• Work with global partner teams and disciplines to scope and deliver projects.
• Practice customer obsession to create great customer outcomes.
• Create a diverse and inclusive team culture.
• Create robust career development plans to help grow team members.
• Create clarity, generate energy and deliver results through your team. 

Qualifications

• Deep experience in leading highly complex software projects with large code bases.
• Strong management skills to collaborate across teams and to inspire talented engineering teams.
• Strong leadership skills and track record of creating a culture of technical excellence and growing strong engineering teams.
• Demonstrable experience in architecting and driving implementation of large-scale services or experiences spanning, multiple systems and groups.
• Great communicator, able to convey complex issues, ideas and concepts clearly within and across teams and management levels.            
• Graduate/post graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• 10+ years of software industry experience including 2+ years of experience managing 8+ member engineering teams. Expertise in C/C++, C# or Java is a highly desirable.
