We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager for a new team to launch a new product – tentatively named Azure L4 Accelerator (actual branding/naming to be set prior to launch). L4 Accelerator would be multi-tenant Layer 4 (TCP/UDP) terminating global (cross-region) load balancer that provides significant performance acceleration and failover for internet-facing applications that themselves could be running any application-layer protocol in Azure or across public/private clouds. The service would offer significant capabilities for many non-HTTP applications, for example (but not limited to) industries such as Gaming, Media, IoT, Banking, FinTech and Mobile apps.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers to build this product and services from ground zero - design, implement, and run highly scalable distributed services that enable load balancing for thousands of tenants, and serving QPS upwards of million. You will be responsible for ensuring that highly usable, reliable and secure services are delivered to delight our customers.

Qualifications

• 12-18 years of Software Development experience building product quality software  
• 3+ years of people management experience 
• Demonstrated success growing junior engineers through mentoring, collaboration and coaching  
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required.  

• Strong experience in one of C#, C++, Golang, JAVA 
• Strong skills in Distributed systems and building cloud services  
• Familiarity with gRPC, Linux/Unix systems.  
• Familiarity with Container platforms and technologies (Docker, Kubernetes etc.)  

Preferred Qualifications  

• Experience with creating and operating services in Azure and/or competitive offerings  
• Experience in Microsoft .NET technologies (C# and .NET Framework) and/or competitive offerings  
• Passion for improving and streamlining the engineering process, tools, methodologies to develop and operate services at hyper-scale.  
• Familiarity with Application (HTTP, HTTPS), transport & security (TCP/UDP, TLS) protocols  

• Knowledge of L7 proxy (nginx, envoy, haproxy) is a plus  
• Contributions to open source software projects is a plus.
