Azure Core is Azure's most profitable business and growing incredibly fast! We, the Azure Core Compute team in IDC, pride ourselves in working without boundaries to enable customers realize benefits of leveraging cloud computing. The Migration and Modernization team within Azure Core works on the Azure Migrate set of services. These set of services are the newest addition of services being built by the team and are driven by the all-important momentum of migrating and modernizing customer workloads from on-premises to Azure. These are extremely high scale hybrid services and their goal is to help customers migrate their workloads from wherever they are to Azure and modernize on the way.

This is an area that is top of mind for the Azure organization as a whole and is an extremely visible, crucial and fast-moving area of investment for the team.

We are looking for a technically savvy, customer-focused, highly passionate, Principal Software Engineering Manager with experience in building and managing large scale cloud services to help drive the future of our platform’s migration offerings. Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of customer requirements for migrating customer workloads to Azure and enhance current Azure Migrate offerings to meet such requirements.
• Create long-term vision and strategy for Azure’s migration offerings that take into account the changing landscape of Azure’s Compute, Storage & Networking capabilities.
• Establish KPIs and successfully drive execution through collaboration and partnership with PM team and partners.
• Lead the team by bringing clarity, creating energy and driving results.
• Prioritize work for your team through collaboration with partner teams.
• Lead the design and implementation of various capabilities & enhancements being undertaken to help customers leverage the service offering effectively for their migration requirements.
• Accountability for design, implementation, quality, livesite, compliance & success of customers

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience in software development and building world class solutions. 
• 5+ years as an engineering manager
• Excellent communication skill and a passion for managing a diverse team of engineers and helping them grow.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 
• Experience/knowledge of cloud computing, enterprise computing, IaaS and/or SaaS products
• Experience in technical leadership in driving engineering roadmaps, leading v-teams, mentoring and helping others grow technically.
• Track record of attracting, hiring, growing, and retaining top talent and working with distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Hands on experience with distributed systems and cloud services.
• Experience with handling scale with quality focus.
