The Role

Fidelity Investments is looking for a software engineer to help build an open-source culture across the enterprise. Open Source is vital to our technology strategy and the Fidelity Application Architecture team is delivering on that strategy by:

  • Implementing controls, policies, and technical solutions to safely consume & contribute to open-source software
  • Advocating for an open-source culture across Fidelity technology teams
  • Using open-source principles to establish an effective inner source program
  • Promoting the Fidelity brand in open-source organizations, conferences, meetups, and social platforms

This developer role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Automating processes and building solutions to scale our open-source policies & controls and to improve the developer experience
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to identify and promote inner-sourced solutions
  • Representing Fidelity at open-source industry events and in online social platforms

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Candidates should have the following skills and expertise:

  • Strong understanding of open-source software culture, licensing, and governance
  • 5+ years of proven experience with Java. Additional experience with Go and/or .NET is preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven experience designing, developing, and deploying applications that follow one of these processing patterns: REST APIs, batch, event-driven, streaming
  • Experience building and deploying applications to one or more of the following cloud platforms is preferred: AWS, Azure, Kubernetes
  • Experience working in a collaborative Agile environment and delivering value incrementally
  • Experience and passion for working across other teams to tackle problems, provide feedback, and gather information
  • Experience and passion for continually learning new technologies, services, and ways of implementing complex business solutions

The Team

The ETGS Software Engineering Excellence COE is responsible for building, evolving and sustaining a culture of continuous engineering excellence and improvement.

We deliver the expertise and competency that ensure we clearly define our expectations in the engineering principles, patterns, practices, and processes and continue to improve our level of engineering maturity.

You will work in partnership with leaders aligned to Enterprise Technology Software Engineering chapter areas and Architecture. Cloud and Infrastructure domains.

The mission of the COE is engineering excellence across the business with focus areas on engineering effectiveness, engineering lifecycle, engineering dependability, engineering measurement and maturity, engineering innovation and engineering culture and craft.
