The Role

Fidelity Labs is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a new startup. The startup’s focus is building innovative enterprise technology for financial services external to Fidelity. This role will work across the development and product teams to launch, support, and extend our application, Saifr. Experience with optimally bringing applications, systems to market, directly crafting, deploying and delivering software is an important aspect of this role. This is a hands-on, technical role.

This position can sit in Boston, MA, Merrimack, NH, Smithfield, RI, or Westlake, TX

We expect the Principal Engineer to be a trusted partner with a passion for technology and proven software engineering, system analysis and client support capabilities. The candidate must be a highly capable hands-on developer, curious with technology, a proven communicator in working with our engineering, product, and sales teams.

The Principal Software Engineer will play a key technical contributor role. We are looking for a very strong, hands-on contributor with the willingness to learn and grow as we tackle more. Experience with regulatory technology is highly desired.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in brining software solutions to market/production directly contributing, deploying and developing as part of a project team.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in creating and publishing software in Java. Proficient software engineer/developer using Java and accompanying libraries, sources, etc.

Proficiency with Jira, GIT/Bitbucket, Confluence and have the ability to adapt to new tools/solutions that benefit the team.

Proficiency in working in an Agile, Kanban or Scrum based team environment and delivery model

Ability to identify and extrapolate on problems, defects and recommend insightful solutions

Hands-on experience developing systems that use modern distributed Software Architecture Patterns (e.g. Cloud/Containerization, Streaming, Microservices, Orchestration, etc.)

Experience building standards-based APIs, using REST, Java and cloud development. The primary language of the team is Java/Python.

Experience developing cloud solutions and creatively solving problems

Experience working with Microsoft Azure, GCP or AWS. Expectation is that the team will support cross cloud installations. Experience with at least on platform is preferred.
