Job Purpose and Impact

The Principal Scientist, Plasticizers will coordinate, align and innovate by exploring, developing and implementing new and existing solutions. In this role, you will conduct research to tackle ambiguous problems and provide technical expertise to develop new solutions. You will develop technology and processes to create new capabilities and implement solutions to scientific problems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with business leaders and customers to find opportunities to use emerging research and technology innovations as well as identify areas for future business growth.
  • Develop and execute on research protocols and yearly research plans in alignment with broad objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership in plasticizers including research process development and improvement, including product and application development aligned to business goals.
  • Interpret results of research trials or studies.
  • Write reports to clarify and document conclusions and may present ongoing work and findings to external audiences at conferences including the summaries and the nature and methodology of the research.
  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree OR other post-secondary degree
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience
  • Experience in PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) processing, formulation or related experience
  • Experience conducting research projects
  • Ability to present at technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to travel up 20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate degree
  • Ten or more years or related work experience
  • Experience developing and executing project plans for new products and applications
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
