Responsibilities

The Engineering Systems organization in Azure Edge + Platform is looking for a passionate development manager to lead our IDC based development teams.  The scale of the Engineering Services team is massive and requires a growth-minded leader to provide support and guidance as new opportunities and challenges are uncovered each day. The Engineering Systems team shapes the experience for Microsoft developers working on Azure and the core OS. We want our developers to be productive, with the right tools to build high-quality and secure products. And we must ensure our critical engineering services themselves are secure and high-quality. We believe in learning through experimentation; in approaching legacy code without fear, but with respect and calculated care; and in perseverance towards ambitious goals while delivering incremental value along the way. Our team values a people-first approach to solving problems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 14+ years of experience as a software engineer working on industrial strength software, including significant experience as a technical leader, and a proven track record of having shipped successful software products & services
• 5+ years of experience building, driving, and managing technical teams
• BS/BA in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent ability to communicate to both technical and management audiences
• Extensive experience in collaborating and coordinating development efforts across time zone and geo-diverse peer teams
• Demonstrated experience in developing and evolving large scale service and tooling-level software codebases
• Experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform
• Knowledge of Windows development work
• Experience with DevOps models and a Livesite-first culture
