We are Windows Servicing & Delivery Team, an important part of Microsoft’s Windows & Devices strategy. We are responsible for making engineering changes to the Windows Operating System to keep our customers protected and productive. We deliver updates to over a billion active Windows devices on the planet. With the global pandemic re-emphasizing what a powerful productivity tool Windows is, that number is growing larger each day.

Different parts of our engineering team work across various operating system areas, including web browsers, media, graphics, device drivers, networking, storage, files system, kernel, virtualization, active directory etc. We also build scalable Azure services for supporting the delivery of updates to a vast and heterogeneous ecosystem and performing intelligent monitoring of the health of the system. 

This Group Software Engineering Manager role represents an opportunity to operate at a massive scale, protecting the billions while also building and supporting new businesses and business growth across the company. You will have the opportunity to influence the roadmap of new and existing features in Windows.

This role requires the leader to be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, making decisions, leading from the front, and building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Be the leader of a high performing, talented group of engineers and foster a diverse, inclusive, and result driven team culture.
• Model, coach, and care for employees and peers, helping everyone to bring their best self to work and enable their career growth.
• Develop and execute the strategy and plan for continued improvement in how we deliver ongoing protections and innovations to the billion+ in-market Windows devices, gaining efficiency and building trust.
• Collaborate with senior executives at Microsoft, leaders from product engineering, security services, and other business units to ensure a shared sense of success.
• Be responsible for the engineering deliverables impacting billions of Windows customers.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in building and shipping production grade software products
• 5+ years of experience in engineering management
• 5+ years of software design and development experience
• Experience in managing highly complex, large scale software engineering projects
• Demonstrated experience leading and growing organizations
• Demonstrated experience with coaching and mentoring leaders
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with geographically distributed partner teams
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
• Knowledge in OS Internals and system programming is a plus
