The Microsoft Digital Platform Engineering (MDPE) team builds the engineering tools and systems for the Microsoft’s Supply Chains (e.g. Hardware devices like Surface, XBOX, HoloLens, and our Azure Datacenters), Microsoft’s digital and physical retail stores and many of the other key financial and planning processes that Microsoft runs on. The Supply Chain Engineering team within MDPE builds the engineering tools and systems for the Devices Supply Chain (e.g. Surface, XBOX, HoloLens), Microsoft digital and physical retail stores, as well as partnering with the Azure team to support the Cloud Supply Chain (e.g. Azure Servers and Racks into datacenters). Supply Chain is key to winning in the Devices and Cloud business because it helps us with faster time to market, increasing profitability and improving our customer experience. We build our engineering tools and platform for HW engineers, Planners, Sourcing Managers, Factory Operations, Logistics and Warehouse Operations, Customer Support, Datacenter Ops, Microsoft Retail Stores - all of these are involved in the whole lifecycle from designing a product to ensuring we can build them at scale and deliver them to our customers. We partner with suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers and retailers to make and sell Microsoft products and services. 

As a Group Program Manager in the Supply Chain Engineering team, you will be leading a team of  ~20 Product Managers to solve problems that will help our Supply Chain be world-class. This position can be based out of Hyderabad or Bangalore.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop critical and clear understanding of the industry, our business and our customers, and distill those to develop the roadmap, and lead the team.
  • Formulating a vision, value proposition and roadmap for improvements to Microsoft’s Supply Chain tools
  • Driving customer-focused engineering by planning and designing improvements based upon business and customer feedback, creating a customer-obsessed and data-driven culture
  • Define, drive and prioritize functional scenarios for Supply Chain tools improvements in alignment with business priorities that deliver the right outcomes for the business
  • Provide thought leadership to the development team building key functionality, working with customers to get feedback, and iterating to improve outcomes
  • Own and evangelize feature roadmaps to land a reference implementation of Supply Chain on Azure or key 3P strategic partners
  • Be the Platform/Product champion externally and passionate voice of the customer internally
  • Work in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities, commitments, and projects with minimal supervision
  • Provide leadership, effectively communicating and managing priorities and risk for the org up to leadership, business stakeholders and team members
  • Lead a team of program/product managers who will form part of this team. Develop the capabilities of the team, and delegate responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Lead via coaching the members of your team, enabling them to develop thriving careers and be high-performing
  • Drive cross-team initiatives contributing to the cultural imperatives of the team and shape the culture
  • Work with partner teams for capacity planning, defining service requirements, and designing end-to-end platform capabilities and features.
  • Create solutions with GTM in mind which caters to Microsoft requirements and is also useful for other customers.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience and skills: â€œ

  • 15+ years combined experience: Program Management, Product Management, Operations Research, Software Development, technical/engineering role(s).
  • 10+ years of experience in Planning, design, development, testing and implementation experience on large scale projects for enterprise businesses.
  • 5+ years demonstrated proficiency in executive level presentations and communications
  • Proven success and experience in collaborating across engineering, business, data science, and operational teams, up to and including working with Partner/GM level stakeholders.
  • Proven experience to quickly learn existing concepts and employ new techniques.
  • Ability to accommodate up to 10% travel
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in collaborating in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proven track record in the development and delivery of effective technical strategies and multi-year roadmaps
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field required; MBA is highly desired.

Preferred, not required:

  • Professional Training and Certification: PMP, SAP, APICS.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Supply Chain Operations or Technology
