Ally.io has joined Microsoft through a recent acquisition to become a core pillar in the Microsoft Viva suite. Ally.io is a category-leading OKR SaaS solution that helps drive accountability, transparency, and alignment on goals across organizations. It was a highly successful startup based in Seattle (including Seattle Startup of the Year, and finalist for next Tech Titan) with a significant team footprint in India. We are seeking for a Principal Group Engineering Manager to help support the team on their journey of joining the Viva suite and continuing to drive value to Microsoft customers, especially in the Enterprise space. This role will report to the Partner GEM of Ally and be instrumental in helping to shape the future of Ally and their engagement in the Microsoft Viva family. As a leader in a rapidly scaling team, the GEM needs to be a great team builder, be comfortable setting technical agendas, and experienced in building the engineering culture for the team. The GEM will regularly work with group program managers, designers, senior engineering leaders on partner teams and with Microsoft executives. Candidate attributes include experienced team leader, proven history of shipping software and services, a learning mindset, and generating energy across a diverse team.  

Responsibilities

• Lead Ally engineering teams to define product roadmaps and delivery timelines for Ally standalone value and as part of a suite 
• Hire and lead a high performing, diverse team 
• Contribute to defining the overall product strategy, priorities and roadmap 
• Accountable for establishing and growing business metrics associated with Ally 
• Work closely with engineering partners, program management, design, and marketing counterparts to build experiences that drive user engagement 
• Accountable for â€œhow” we build the product including architecture, technical designs, coordinating the backlog and ensuring quality, with clear prioritization, and an urgency for learning 
• Plan and lead product reviews with engineering teams and planning reviews with executive leadership 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

• 12 years minimum experience in software engineering or software development  
• 5 years minimum experience in People Management  

Preferred Qualifications: 

• 5 years' minimum experience in building, leading, and supporting high-performing and globally distributed teams. 

• Proven track record of building & shipping large scale enterprise software products or highly available and reliable cloud services.  
• History of building strong relationships with product management and design at the working team and leadership level. 
• Demonstrated ability to directly manage a team of EMs and SWEs to achieve results, strategic thinking, and grow careers.  
• Innate curiosity and ability to self-start in an ambiguous and rapidly changing startup environment. Great at learning quickly. 
• Strong project management and leadership skills. 

• Experience at many layers of the tech stack (native, web, service, UX, model, data). 
• Open minded and thoughtful when making technology choices. 
• Experience with existing M365 foundational technologies.
