Your key accountabilities will include:
Safeguarding the safety, integrity, reliability and efficiency of Railway Structures assets at all stages in the asset life cycle through engagement in planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and assessment activities.
Monitoring and ensuring that the risk profile of Railway Structures assets in TfL are maintained in compliance with TfL policy
Leading the authorship and updating of Railway Structures policies, standards and procedures
Providing engineering input in support of TfL operations, strategy, projects and asset management
Defining, implementing and updating the Railway Structures capability strategy and its operating model through the optimisation of staff utilisation, adoption of optimum make & buy strategy and continuous professional development of its members
Identifying and developing critical expertise required to keep the Railways safe by using a risk based approach, managing and continuing the development of the existing team
Providing technical and people leadership to the capability and ensuring that accreditation of the capability is up to date
Working closely with industry, internal and external stakeholders to introduce relevant innovations and best practice in TfL.
You will be a chartered engineer with the UK Engineering Council or recognised equivalent, ideally a Fellow or a Member working towards Fellowship of the Institution of Civil Engineers or another relevant UK or internationally recognised engineering institution.
You will have expert knowledge, skills and experience of:
Building and leading successful teams comprising of subject matter experts working on complex projects within a regulated environment, preferably within the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations (ROGS) framework
Providing technical leadership in a lead technical authority and or lead delivery role on complex structural projects within capital programmes and or operations with emphasis on whole life cycle benefits
Risk based design assurance on multidisciplinary projects and modifications to operational Railway Structures assets
Legislation, technical standards and industry best practice related to the design, construction, maintenance and operation of complex Railway Structures infrastructure
Design, construction, operation, maintenance and asset management of Railway Structures that include the assessment of the structural performance of long-life ageing structures with limited as-built information
Developing and ensuring the implementation of asset management technical strategies for Railway Structures which are forward looking, risk based and maximise asset performance and reliability without affecting safety
Design and project management delivery frameworks that are applied to support and ensure the consistent and efficient delivery of projects and programmes
Identifying, managing and mitigating engineering related risks to a project and assets with a focus on the safety, reliability, quality, function and performance of operational assets and systems.
Building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at senior management level to enable successful delivery of engineering solutions.
