Administers databases, using MariaDB, SQL Server, AWS, and Azure in Linux and Windows environments. Provides database support in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) according Agile methodologies. Replicates databases using distributed replication technologies — Oracle Goldengate and EDB Replication. Diagnoses problem areas and creates solutions and workarounds, using SQL Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM 12c), and Linux Shell Scripting. Documents design, operational procedures, and standards for highly complex business critical databases.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Performs development support and engineers new software.
• Monitors database servers and responds to alerts.
• Participates in 24/7 on call rotation schedules for production support, database maintenance, housekeeping, and installation issues.
• Writes database monitoring jobs.
• Provides technical guidance on the design and implementation of complex databases.
• Tests and implements new design features for general use.
• Defines and evaluates database maintenance tool and build processes.
• Establishes performance tuning criteria and methods in coordination with internal and external technical resources.
• Designs, evaluates, and performs highly complex database performance and functionality testing.
• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects.
• Provides technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
• Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and techniques to minimize future incident occurrence.
• Defines security requirements and operational procedures to ensure network integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to the network and applications.
• Develops business cases to justify information security architecture initiatives.
• Enforces storage management standards.
• Defines the scope of change and impact to other interfaces.
• Creates high level architecture design for the enterprise.
• Mentors junior team members.
• Collaborates with enterprise teams to meet technology demands.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience building, maintaining, and supporting mission critical applications running on Oracle database technology in a financial or telecommunications domain.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience building, maintaining, and supporting mission critical applications running on Oracle database technology in a financial or telecommunications domain.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DEâ€) managing ORACLE 10g/11g/12c/19c RAC Databases, 12c, 13c Cloud, OID 11g/ODSM/SSO/TNSLDAP/OAM services, and Cassandra services; identifying database requirements; recommending solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications to clients.
DE performance tuning SQL statements interacting with developers.
DE configuring, managing, and monitoring Goldengate replication and support to replicate data across corporate RDBMS.
DE providing database processing requirements to the capacity planning process, ensuring that future demand is factored into Operational Systems capacity and configuration.
