The Role

As a Principal Data Design Leader within our Brokerage Data Design Center of Excellence, you blend deep data subject matter expertise and an aim to bring data modeling standards/best practices to all squads supporting the complete redesign of our Core Brokerage platform in the cloud.  You lead a team of highly skilled data modelers in an OLTP/transactional environment that supports the redesign of the platform.  You will partner with the platform’s Squad and Product Area leaders to understand their roadmaps as well as their priorities on a quarterly basis.  You will be the end-to-end gatekeeper of your team’s overall strategy for data subject area modeling, as well as our standards and best practices.   You will ensure alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization based on squads’ requirements.  You will enable your squad members to work iteratively, collaboratively and devote attention to continuous improvement to automate some of the modeling tool’s manual functions, as well as to continue building a library of documentation for standards and best practices for a variety of technical topics.  You will also provide data modeling support to meet high priority deliverables.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Bachelor’s degree

10+ years of prior work experience in data-centric role(s) focused on data analysis and modeling

Hands on experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling for OLTP/transactional application is required.

Experience designing, developing, and maintaining data centric capabilities

Financial services experience preferred

Agile experience to improve and encourage different techniques of working

Jira and Jira Align experience preferred

Understanding of data stewardship and governance practices to drive consistent data usage and create a data driven culture. You can break these practices into clear and concise with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria to execute against.

Strong focus on execution and will identify, communicate, and remove impediments to progress

Capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams

Establish and manage relationships as you work across Brokerage platform squads and Product Areas to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach

Intellectually curious and will model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching

Committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills in order to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers

Experience in leadership skills, data management, data analysis, data governance or stewardship

The Team

The data modeling team within our Brokerage Data Design CoE is committed to delivering brand new, resilient models that meet the needs of the new Core Brokerage platform.  You will lead this team of expert data modelers with a blend of passion for delivering results, a drive to work collaboratively with the other Squad leaders, Scrum Masters, Product Area leaders that are aligned with your team, an innovative mindset for problem solving and a commitment to maintaining and developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.  By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture.
