AES is currently seeking a Pre-Construction Project Manager to manage the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) ‘Request for Proposal’ (RFP) process for Solar PV, Energy Storage and Wind projects during project development.

The position will focus on managing the bid process and any actions needed to facilitate and secure EPC contract execution. The successful candidate will help coordinate cost reviews, contract negotiations, supply-chain logistics, and cost reconciliations, and will be responsible for the creation of a database for pre-construction and bidding processes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the release of RFPs and scope of work bid packages for EPC, Equipment Supplier and Operations & Maintenance contractors. He or she will participate in contractor selection and contract negotiations and will help identify and implement constant improvement initiatives in all the bidding and contractual processes associated with the development of AES’s renewable portfolio.

You will also be responsible for the management of and compliance with supply agreements, including deliverables and milestone requirements. In addition, you will collaborate with other team members to draft and negotiate master services agreements, and execute project purchase orders inclusive of: conditions, scopes, pricing, schedule provisions -all in-line with project requirements.

The Project Manager will be able to work with other functions and disciplines from across the company to understand and evaluate the labor, material and other direct and indirect costs associated with proposed contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, review and compile EPC pre-qualifications and safety records via Avetta platform
• Assist Construction team to maintain preferred EPC contractor list and grow relationships with key U.S. construction partners
• Prepare & deploy EPC RFP bid packages using the Ariba platform, facilitate Q&A feedback from Engineering and Construction teams, analyze resulting bid responses and make selection recommendations to Construction team
• Coordinate and assist Business Development with AES’s utility and developer RFP responses
• Assist in providing project construction cost estimates and ongoing updates to financial capex project input forms to support Business Development, Construction and Finance teams with financial modelling and cost/budget monitoring
• Contribute to equipment supplier RFP processes, and assist in evaluation of bid responses
• Coordinate equipment suppliers to ensure adherence to contract terms and contractual deliverables

Skills and Qualifications:

• +5 years professional experience in a construction contracting role.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Avetta, Ariba and Microsoft Project.
• Familiarity with photovoltaic solar, energy storage and wind components and technical standards.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
• Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges by all parties during stressful situations.
• Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive level reporting that ensure timely action and decision making in time-pressured scenarios.
• Spanish language skills a plus
