The work you'll do

·        Act as a power system modeler within the support team leading the laboratory’s analytical and forecasting work

·        Work with clients to define research needs, prepare and manage data inputs, tailor and run power system modeling for different modeling scenarios, interpret, discuss, and present results

·        Lead electricity system modeling activities using industry-standard transmission planning and analysis software such as PSS/E

·        Lead wholesale electricity markets modeling activities using industry-standard production cost such as PROMOD/PLEXOS

·        Undertake relevant generation and transmission planning, economic analysis, price forecasting, and wholesale electricity market analysis 

·        Prepare memos, briefs, presentations, or other materials that explain the outputs of the market simulations, how they are relevant to research priorities, and how to interpret those results and their potential applications

Our team of financial modeling and valuation professionals includes financial advisors and economists from varied diverse backgrounds who together help our clients make better decisions using custom, tailored financial models. We make an impact by advising our clients on critical public issues in areas such as business case analysis, transaction execution, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, valuation and portfolio optimization. 

 

Qualifications

Required:

·        Must be eligible to receive the required US Security clearance for the role

·        Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, either now or at any time in the future

·        Bachelor’s degree in power systems or electrical engineering, economics, mathematics, or other technical STEM field, Master’s or PhD a plus; official training on power system and energy market modeling sector software preferred

·        2-5 years of experience utilizing advanced energy modeling software (i.e. PSS/E, PROMOD) and electric power system industry models (FERC 715 data, North American Electric Reliability Corporation Multiregional Modeling Working Group cases, and others) to produce analyses, ideally at a professional services firm producing technical analyses for public and private sector clients

·        Strong mathematical, database, and advanced programing skills related to power system models; ability to learn technical topics quickly

·        Demonstrated experience producing data-driven, peer-reviewed work, studies, models, or analysis for technical audiences
