Become familiar with plant power distribution system:
Become familiar with all aspects of plant electrical system, from 138 kV supply, 12 kV distribution, generation to utilization at various voltage levels. Become familiar and proficient with the E-Tap software, its database and results of short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies. Become familiar and master the use of other tools used in the plant, ie. Meridian, Aspen, Intellution. Evaluate opportunities for improvement in existing databases and data collection systems.
Complete all electrical studies using available E-Tap modules:
Evaluate existing studies results by confirming them with actual, real time measurements. Analyze and modify existing input data and methodology used to make sure that the results are accurate. Recommend changes to improve system stability, optimize selectivity of protective devices and reduce arc flash hazard.
Qualified candidates will have:
Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred
Ability to work 40hrs per week during the Co-Op term (May - Dec 2022)
Good electrical engineering knowledge, especially as it relates to power distribution system.
Familiarity with database management.
Willingness to learn quickly
Good problem solving skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to self-teach using manuals, documentation and online information.
Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day
Attend or understand the following power system basics classes:
Circuits I & II classes
Power system basics (Power system components & 3-phase balance power theory)
Electromechanics (AC/DC machines, synchronous motors & Generators)
Electromagnetics basics

Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
