We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as PMO Analyst working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

Stress testing is a vital component in assessing the bank’s vulnerabilities, determining capital adequacy and thereby the resilience of the bank through improved risk and capital management. The role holder will operate within one of the most complex Finance and Risk management processes within the bank, with results driving capital requirements and the potential to affect our reputation, curtail dividends and remuneration. As a result, stress testing is a strategic and regulatory priority with ever increasing expectations.

This role is part of the Strategic Planning & Stress Testing (SP&ST) organisation, which is responsible for stress testing globally.  It spans 7 regions, 14 functions and 3 businesses to deliver a cohesive and effective approach to meet global regulatory requirements, providing deep quantitative and qualitative insight to support decision making within the bank.

The Planning and Delivery team supports and coordinates activities within the Global Stress Team in order to deliver regulatory, internal and ad-hoc stress tests. This role will report into the Head of SP&ST Planning and Delivery.

Key outcomes and goals will be:

  • The gateway for engagement with the PRA and Senior Management, ensuring clear concise and accurate written communications with the PRA. 
  • To interpret the regulatory guidelines and assist with ensuring stakeholder’s compliance to regulatory requirements
  • Good broad technical knowledge to be able to support delivery planning.
  • Define and manage the Communications & SharePoint, Governance & Secretariat Admin Support
  • Support the development of plans
  • Work cross functionally and regionally regarding plans, process maps and timelines
  • Assist with any analytical work required on the stress test results
  • Engagement with Prudential Regulatory Authority

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain the operating models for the PRA stress tests, working with other members of the team and wider stakeholders to update in line with the SP&ST Operating Model Framework;
  • Maintain ownership, roles and responsibilities for building block, core process and activity owners in relation to each building block, and communicate/embed these responsibilities across stress testing (RACI);
  • Monitor the completion of process flows by core processes, reviewing the documented control points and handoffs for completeness and enforcing SP&ST process minimum standards;
  • Assist with problem solving for complex issues which will require broad technical knowledge;
  • Manage the PRA regulatory engagement and ensuring that all queries to and from the PRA are communicated in a timely, clear and concise manner.
  • Support all analytical and reporting work, advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Assist the Head of Planning & Delivery to plan and execute the required activities in the Operating Model Building Block as part of PRA readiness;
  • Encourage collaborative working across SP&ST, Group Functions and other Global stakeholders as well as Regional teams by facilitating discussions around handoffs and process flows and ensuring information is published on the SP&ST SharePoint;
  • Represent SP&ST Planning and Delivery at working groups and meetings, providing input and ensuring that key actions and where required minutes are taken.
  • Ensure SP&ST Operating model standards and requirements are maintained.
  • Assist in wider planning and governance activities carried out within the team.
 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience, professional qualification in a related field (Risk, Finance) or be able to demonstrate active use of knowledge of the banking industry and experience of planning for complex activities.
  • Experience of working within a complicated process covering multiple regions and functions, preferably related to stress testing, and the ability to understand the overall big picture delivery;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities whilst maintaining a high level of organisation and calm
  • An understanding of the workings of both Risk and Finance departments within organisations and how they differ
  • A bias towards high quality deliveries on a timely and rapid basis whilst maintaining stakeholder relationships;
  • Demonstrate ability to identify underlying themes and issues and utilise this understanding to pre-emptively resolve issues
  • Experience analysing and documenting an end to end process (such as that for delivering a global stress test) that incorporates complex inter-dependencies and hand-offs between sub-processes, with a clear understanding of the control framework in which regulatory reporting must operate
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships and resolve problems through teamwork;
  • Strong communication skills on a strategic, business and technical level, quickly grasping and understanding processes and dependencies with the ability to apply the knowledge gained
  • A strong command of written English and the ability to present information in a form suitable for a senior audience through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations)
  • Awareness of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
  • An understanding of the UK’s banking regulations including the PRA’s Stress Testing Framework and associated monitoring
