Job Description

Responsibilities

• Understand UK government customers’ overall business, environmental considerations, applications portfolio, IT and success measures to design and develop Azure based solutions using IaaS, PaaS, Containerisation, Advanced Networking, with security and compliance considerations throughout
• Work directly with customers to Architect and deliver reference architectures built from PoCs/Pilots/Demos that meet business and IT requirements while ensuring compliance and technical viability of new projects and successful deployments. This includes key Infrastructure technologies (e.g. Windows and Linux, IaaS, Security, Networking, etc.), and advanced security concepts as appropriate
• Develop advanced communications and platform applications that incorporate IoT, Edge, Space, and advanced cloud technologies
• You must be deeply technical and able to ramp up in new areas quickly since responsibilities will span all areas of Azure’s technology stack
• Ensure that the solution exhibits Secure by Design or Well-Architected framework, high levels of security, compliance, performance, scalability, maintainability, and appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment
• Collaborate with other Azure Engineering teams in developing complex solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, remove key blockers, and set product direction
• Be an Azure Platform evangelist with customers, partners, and external communities.
• Stay current on existing and emerging technologies through continuous learning and working closely with the latest technologies (Serverless, containerized apps, AI/ML, IoT, .NET Core, Quantum, etc.) in Microsoft

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 

• Ability to meet Microsoft and UK Government security clearance requirements at SC and above
• Success in consultative/complex technical solution development projects with significant direct cloud experience, including business development and sales support activities
• Understanding and experience of the Defense and/or Security domain(s), key challenges, priorities and stakeholders
• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Azure technologies and how these can be utilised to satisfy Defence and Security mission requirements
• The technical aptitude and experience to learn new technologies and understand relevant cloud trends
• Knowledge of cloud development platforms and understanding of partner ecosystems and the ability to leverage partner solutions to solve customer needs
• Experience in principals such as OOP, .NET framework, Entity Framework, Node.js and SQL along with exposure to AI/ML and Big Data processing.
• Experience with distributed systems design and implementation, especially microservice and containerized architectures
• Experience with Windows and Linux, in Containerized development
• Strong documentation skills and technical writing
• Knowledge and experience with agile development methodologies
• Ability and willingness to operate in an fluid environment
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

 

Desired Attributes

 

• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations involving critical and politically charged partner situations, to lead projects and to motivate others
• Container development and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry)
• Direct experience of Edge capability development

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
